Vintage Angel snag tags

Snag tags available here

Vintage Angel

In this tutorial I am using art from the beautiful
Vintage Angel collection by Jessica Galbreth.
You require a license to use Jessica’s art,
you can get one here.

I am using a kit by Schnegge’s Scraps called
“My Name is Pixie”.
This is a really lovely kit with some beautiful elements
as well as two awesome poser tubes.
You can get it here.

You will also require a mask, I used my favourite mask,
Monti's circle mask, here.

I used a Jellyka font, le grand saut, here.

As always, don’t forget to sharpen your elements after resizing (adjust – sharpen – unsharp mask, radius and clipping 5, strength 30).

Shadows are very important for a nice looking tag, I used different ones on this tag depending on the element, you can use mine or experiment with your own.

I re-coloured some of the elements in the kit to complement by tube.

Open a new transparent canvas 550 by 550 pixels and flood fill with white.

Open p20_mnip_Schnegge and copy. Make a new layer on your canvas, select all, paste the paper into the selection, de-select and apply your mask. Resize 90% and lower the opacity to around 60.

Open frame01_mnip_Schnegge and paste as a new layer. Resize 75% and apply a drop shadow vertical and horizontal 5, opacity 50, blur 5.

Open glitter_mnip_Schnegge and paste as a new layer. Resize 60% and apply the same drop shadow as before but changing the horizontal and vertical to 2.

Open ribbon02_mnip_Schnegge and paste as a new layer. Resize 80% and rotate 40 degrees to the left.

Open p14_mnip_Schnegge and copy. Select the interior of the ribbon with your magic wand and expand the selection by 10, make a new layer below the ribbon layer, paste the paper into the selection and then de-select. Go back to the ribbon layer and apply a drop shadow vertical and horizontal 5, opacity 70, blur 10.

Open stars02-mnip_Schnegge and paste as a new layer, resize 70% and place in position.

Open your tube and paste as a new layer, resize as required, position so she is coming out of the frame and apply the last drop shadow.

Open flower02_mnip_Schnegge and paste as a new layer. Resize 90% and drag down below the frame and paper layers. Position the flower towards the top, left hand side using my tag for reference, duplicate this layer, mirror and flip the duplicate and position towards the bottom, right hand side. Apply the last drop shadow to both layers.

Open flower09_mnip_Schnegge and paste as a new layer. Mirror, resize 50%, place in position and apply the last drop shadow.

Open flower 11 and paste as a new layer. Bring this layer up above the frame layer, mirror, resize 55%, place in position and apply the last drop shadow.

Open birdcage_mnip_Schnegge, paste as a new layer and bring to the top. Resize 60%, place in position and apply a drop shadow vertical and horizontal 2, opacity 70, blur 5.

Open flower02_mnip_Schnegge again and paste as a new layer. Resize 55%, place in position and apply a drop shadow vertical and horizontal 5, opacity 50, blur 10.

Open flower03_mnip_Schnegge and paste as a new layer. Resize 40%, place in position and apply the last drop shadow.  Erase any of the stalk from the previous flower that is showing at the bottom of this flower.

Open butterflies_mnip_Schnegge and paste as a new layer. Resize 50%, place in position and apply the last drop shadow but changing the opacity to 70.

Check the position of all your elements then crop your tag and resize if required. Apply your copyright information and text and export as a jpeg with compression set to 5 or as a png on a transparent background.

Burlesque

In this tutorial I am using the art of Ray Leaning.
You require a license to use Ray’s art,
which you can get here.
The tube I used is actually a free tube
although you still require a license to use it.
You will find it in the “Free Tubes” section.

I am using an awesome scrap kit “Burlesque” by
Thank you Jo!

Photo Aging Kit, Cracked Paper
but this optional if you don’t have the plugin.

I used a drop shadow of vertical and horizontal 2, opacity 60, blur 5 on all my elements.

Lower the opacity to around 60.  Do not deselect.

Make a new layer below your tube layer, invert the selection again and flood fill with a colour of choice, I used a light grey. Close off the background and frame layers and merge visible. Apply Filters Unlimited 2.0, Photo Aging Kit, Cracked Paper, just hit on randomize until you get a nice aged photo effect.  Open your frame layer and apply the drop shadow. Merge visible again and then open your background layer.

Open CBJ_BurlesqueCorset2 and paste as a new layer. Resize 50%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open CBJ_BurlesqueRose and paste as a new layer. Resize 40%, duplicate and mirror the duplicate. Place both roses into position and apply the drop shadow to each.

Open CBJ_BurlesqueMask1 and paste as a new layer. Resize 75% and rotate 10 degrees to the right. Place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open CBJ_BurlesqueDotBow and paste as new layer. Resize 50%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open CBJ_BurlesqueLipstick2, click on your compact layer and then paste as a new layer. Resize 50%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open CBJ_BurlesqueCigarettes, paste as a new layer and bring to the top. Resize 75%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open CBJ_BurlesqueRing and paste as a new layer. Resize 20%, place in position behind the cigarettes, apply the drop shadow and then erase part of the cigarettes so that the diamonds are showing on top of the packet.

Open one of the papers, I used CBJ_BurlesquePaper5 and copy. Click on your white background layer, make a new layer, select all, paste the paper into the selection and de-select. Apply the mask, resize 90% and lower the opacity to around 70.

Open CBJ_BurlesqueStars and paste as a new layer. Resize 50% and apply the drop shadow.

Crop your tag and resize as required, then apply your copyright information and text.

Go back to your frame layer,  select the interior with your magic wand and expand the selection by 10. Invert the selection, go back to your tube layer and hit delete. Do not de-select.  Lower the opacity of the tube layer to around 50%.

Open the paper again, copy, make a new layer below the tube layer and invert the selection. Paste the paper into the selection. Go back to the frame layer and apply the drop shadow.

Close off the background layer, merge visible and then re-open the background.

Open Clock_BAC_DigitalChaos and paste as a new layer. Resize 60%, drag below the merged layer, place in position on the right hand side and apply the drop shadow.

Ok, the next part of the tutorial is for more advanced paintshop users, you can miss this part out of course but I hope you give it a try!!

Close off the bottom white layer. Right click on your tag and “copy merged”. Right click again and “paste as a new layer”, bring this layer to the top while we work on it. You can now re-open your bottom white layer. Resize the merged layer 60% and apply Toadies Ommadawn with the following settings:

                                                Cell width                                  15

                                                Cell height                                 15

                                                Cell “a” sharp/soft                    234

                                                Cell Edges On/Off                    17

We are going to make this layer look like a floor and need to put it into perspective. Activate your pick tool (in older versions of Paintshop this is called the deform tool). You will see some nodes show around the layer, hold down your control key and pull one of the bottom corner nodes right out to the side (holding down the control key will make both corners pull out equally).  When you pull out the nodes, you will pull the nodes off the canvas, make sure you don’t pull the layer off or it will have a sharp edge. When you are happy with this, hold down the top centre node and push it down so its about two thirds the height. I have done some screenshots below.

When you are done, position this layer on the bottom part of the tag using mine for reference, drag it down to above the mask layer and lower the opacity to around 60%.

Crop your tag and resize as required. Apply your copyright information and text and then export as a jpeg with compression set to 5 or as a png on a transparent backround.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial, if you have any questions, please email me here.

Font I used was Passions Conflict by Rob.

I tell you every time lol but its important for a nice looking tag; don’t forget to sharpen your elements after resizing and rotating to get rid of the blurriness caused (adjust – sharpness – unsharp mask – radius and clipping 5, strength 30).

I used a drop shadow throughout of vertical and horizontal 5, opacity 70, blur 10.

Ok, lets get started!

Open a new transparent canvas 600 by 600 pixels and floodfill with white.

Open one of the papers, I used p04_DC_Schnegge. Copy the paper, make a new layer on your canvas, select all and paste the paper into the selection, de-select and apply the mask. Resize the mask 90%.

Open paperstar_DC_Schnegge and paste as a new layer. Resize 85%.  Select the interior of the paperstar with your magic wand and expand the selection by 10. Open another of the papers, I used p09_DC_Schnegge, make a new layer below the paperstar layer and paste the paper into the selection. Go back to the paperstar layer and apply the drop shadow.

Now grab your tube, putting together what elements you like.  Remember Barb allows recoloring, I toned down the purple slightly as it was a little bright for the kit. We will add the pure black gloves in a bit so don’t include those at the moment. Paste your tube as new layer and resize, I resized mine 75%.  Place in position on the frame and apply the drop shadow.

Now we are going to make the tube look like she is popping through the frame. Go back to the paperstar layer and draw a rectangular section, something like my screenshot below.

Hit on delete, then click on your canvas and paste as a new layer. The part of the paperstar you deleted will be pasted back on the canvas. Bring this layer to the top and position the two parts back together. Check the position of your tube and erase any parts that show outside the bottom of the paperstar.

Now open the pure black gloves layer of the tube, paste as a new layer and bring to the top, resize it the same amount as you did your tube and place in position.  Apply the drop shadow to the gloves.

Open notebook_DC_Schnegge and paste as a new layer.  Resize 65% and rotate 20 degrees to the right. Drag the layer so its just above the mask layer, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open hearts_DC_Schnegge and paste as a new layer. Resize 80%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open flower02_DC_Schnegge and paste as a new layer. Mirror and resize 75%. Tuck it between the notebook and the paperstar and apply the drop shadow. You will need to bring the flower to the top so you can see where to position it and then drag it back down to above the notebook layer.

Open flower01_DC_Schnegge and paste as a new layer. Resize 70%, place in position over the first flower as in my tag and apply the drop shadow.

Open ribbon_CD_Schnegge and paste as a new layer. Rotate 80 degrees to the left and resize 75%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open bow02_DC_Schnegge and paste as a new layer. Resize 45%, drag the layer to above your paperstar layer, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open heartcharm_DC_Schnegge and paste as a new layer. Resize 22%, again you will need to bring the layer to the top to place it in position then drag it down to below the bow02 layer and apply the drop shadow.

Open heart02 and paste as a new layer. Resize 75%, place in position on the left hand side of your tube and apply the drop shadow.

Open pen_DC_Schnegge, paste as a new layer and bring to the top. Resize 35% and rotate 70 degrees to the left. Place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Check the position of all your elements.

Crop your tag and resize if required, apply your copyright information and text and export as a jpeg with compression set to 5 or a png on a transparent background.

Tink

In this tutorial I am using the art of Popeye Wong.
Not only does Pops allow his art to be
used without payment, he also supplies tubes
and allows re-colouring and animation!
Check out Pops' site here.
Thank you very much Pops, your generosity is greatly appreciated!
As Pops doesn’t seem to have this tube on his site now,
I have uploaded it for you, here
I don't know who tubed the image.

I am using another of Pimp’d Designz Fairytale mini kits,
this time of course the Tinkerbell kit.

You will also require a mask.
I used Monti’s circle mask,
which you can get here.

I used a Jellyka font called Le Grand Saut Textural
which is a free font.

Don’t forget to sharpen your elements after re-sizing/rotating to counteract the blurriness caused (adjust – sharpness – unsharp mask, radius and clipping 5, strength 30).

I used the same drop shadow, vertical and horizontal 2, opacity 70 and blur 5 on my elements.

Much as I love this little purple tink, purple being my favourite color, I wanted it to match the kit more so first of all we are going to do some re-coloring.

Open the tube, make a duplicate and close down the original. Open a couple of the elements from the kit and choose a nice bright green and a yellow with your dropper tool. With the green as the foreground colour, use the “change to target” brush to re-color the dress, shoes and headband, then switch the colours and re-color the wings with the yellow. Below is a screen shot of where you will find the change to target brush (I am using PSP X3, it may be in a different place in older versions of PSP).

Change to target brush settings:

Hardness – 50

Step – 10

Density – 100

Thickness – 100

Rotation – 0

Opacity – 100.

Start off with the brush around size 20 for the larger areas but you will need to lower the size, right down to 1 even, to get in all the nooks and crannies.

When you are happy with the coloring, we can start on the tag!

Open a new transparent canvas 500 by 500 pixels and flood fill with white.

Open one of the papers, I used pd-pp-01 and copy. Make a new layer on your canvas, select all, paste the paper into the selection and apply your mask. Resize 90%.

Open pd-butterflies and paste as a new layer. Resize 75% and place in position on the mask. No drop shadow on this layer.

Open pd-jar and paste as a new layer. Resize 50%, position towards the right hand side and apply the drop shadow.

Open pd-greens-03 and paste as a new layer. Rotate 70 degrees to the right and resize 50%. Drag down below the jar and place in position, apply the drop shadow.

Open pd-lights and paste as a new layer. Resize 60% and place in position. No drop shadow on this layer.

Open pd-flower-01 and paste as a new layer. Resize 85%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Copy your tube, paste as a new layer and bring it to the top. Resize 50% and apply the drop shadow. Place the tube in position inside the jar and then drag it down below the jar layer.

Open pd-sparkle01, paste as a new layer and bring it to the top. Resize 70%. To make the sparkles stand out a bit more as they are now so small, I duplicated this layer and merged the two layers together. I also kept the sparkles on top of the jar for the same reason. Arrange the sparkles over the tube and then erase any that are outside the jar or on Tinkerbell’s head.

Open pd-greens-01 and paste as a new layer. Mirror, resize 50%, rotate 10 degrees to the right, place in position and apply the drop shadow. (I applied the unsharp mask twice on this layer).

Open pd-ribbons-03 and paste as a new layer. Resize 30%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open pd-wand and paste as a new layer. Resize 30% and rotate 35 degrees to the right. Place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open pd-boat and paste as a new layer. Mirror, resize 35%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Crop your tag and apply the copyright information and your text. Export as a jpeg with compression set to 5.

Le Cirque

In this tutorial I am using a fabulous freebie addon
for the kit “Circus Adventure” by
which includes the gorgeous tiger!

I take no credit for this tutorial as it is heavily based on the
addon preview which I just loved!

You will also require a mask.
I used Monti’s Circle mask,
you can get it here.

I used Alien Skin Eye Candy 5 Impact for the
perspective shadow on the tiger.
If you don’t have this plugin, you can experiment
with your own shadow or just use the drop shadow.

Don’t forget to sharpen your elements after resizing and rotating (adjust – sharpen – unsharp mask – radius and clipping 5, strength 50).

Open a new transparent canvas 500 by 500 pixels and flood fill with white.

Open EenasCreation_Addon_Circus_Paper2 and copy. Make a new layer on your canvas, select all and paste the paper into the selection.  Apply the mask, resize 90% and lower the opacity to 65.

Open EenasCreation_Addon_Circus_el9 and paste as a new layer. Resize 23% and apply a drop shadow, vertical 0, horizontal 5, opacity 70, blur 5.

Open EenasCreation_Addon_Circus_el1 and paste as a new layer. Resize 13% and apply the same drop shadow as before.

Open EenasCreation_Addon_Circus_el10 and paste as a new layer. Resize 11% and apply the drop shadow. Now place your three elements in position using my tag as a reference.

Apply Alien Skin Eye Candy 5 Impact Perspective Shadow on the tiger with the following settings.

Open EenasCreation_Addon_Circus_el2 and paste as a new layer. Resize 17%, drag down until its just above the mask layer and position towards the right hand side. Duplicate this layer, resize the duplicate 80%, mirror and place in position on the left. Apply the drop shadow but change the horizontal to 2.

Open EenasCreation_Addon_Circus_el8 and paste as a new layer above the fire/hoop layer. Resize 12% and apply the last drop shadow.

Open EenasCreation_Addon_Circus‑el6 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 15% and rotate 30 degrees to the right. This element blurs a lot with the resizing and rotating, as well as applying the unsharp mask I also dabbed the star part a few times with the sharpen brush. Apply the last drop shadow.

Open EenasCreation_Addon_Circus_el5 and paste as a new layer. Bring the layer to the top, resize 10%, rotate 90 degrees to the right, resize another 90% and place in position. Apply the drop shadow changing the horizontal back to 5.

Crop your tag, resize as required and apply your watermark.
