Nevermore Lenore snag tags

Available here.

Nevermore Lenore

In this tutorial I am using the beautiful art of Tatjana Willms.
You need a license to use Tatjana’s art,
you can get one here
(at the time of writing this tutorial there is Halloween sale with 25%
reduction on all tubes at Dreamscape Imaging).

I am using a scrap kit called “The Raven” by
This is an awesome kit based on the poem The Raven by
Edgar Allan Poe.
The kit is presently on sale for $1!
Love this kit Cora, thank you!

You will also require a mask, I used Monti’s circle mask,
you can get it here.

Font used is Jellyka Castle's Queen.
This is a free font, here.

Don’t forget to sharpen your elements after resizing and rotating, essential for a good looking tag (adjust – sharpness – unsharp mask – radius and clipping 5, strength 30).

Unless otherwise stated, the drop shadow used is vertical and horizontal 5, opacity 70, blur 10.

Open a new transparent canvas 650 by 650 pixels and flood fill with white.

Open one of the papers and copy, I used pd-pp-01. Make a new layer on your canvas, select all, paste the paper into the selection, de-select and apply the mask. Resize 80%.

Open pd-frame-02 and paste as a new layer. Resize 55%. Open one of the papers and copy, I used pd-pp07. Select the interior of the frame with your magic wand and expand the selection by 10. Make a new layer below the frame layer and paste the paper into the selection. Do not de-select.

Open your tube and paste as a new layer. I greyscaled the tube. Resize if required, position inside the frame, invert the selection and hit delete to remove the excess tube then lower the opacity to around 60. Go back to the frame layer and apply the drop shadow. Close off the white background layer and merge visible. Move over slightly to the right.

Open pd-leaves-01 and paste as a new layer. Resize 55%, place in position on the right hand side of the frame and apply the drop shadow.

Open pd-layered-wings. Paste both the wings as new layers, resize each 70%, drag down below the merged frame layer and position on either side. Apply the drop shadow to each layer.

Open pd-print-01 and paste as a new layer. Resize 72%, move down below the wing layers and  apply a drop shadow but change the horizontal and vertical to 2 and blur to 3.

Open pd-moon-01 and paste as a new layer. Resize 70% and place in position to the left.

Open pd-tree-01 and paste as a new layer. Resize 60%, place in position over the moon and apply the main drop shadow.

Open pd-gravestone-01, paste as a new layer and bring to the top. Mirror, resize 60%, place in position on the left and apply the drop shadow.

Open your tube again and paste as a new layer. Resize as required, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open pd-clock and paste as a new layer. Resize 50%, place in position on the right of the tube and apply the drop shadow.

Open pd-ribbon-01 and paste as a new layer. Resize 50%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open pd-book-05 and paste as a new layer. Resize 70%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Check the position of all your elements and make any adjustments.

Open pd-cloud-01 and paste as a new layer. Resize 70%. Drag the cloud down so its between the clock and ribbon layers and place in position. Duplicate this layer and mirror the duplicate. Drag this layer down behind the tube and place in position so it looks like the tube has mist around her.

Open a couple of the flowers, resize as required and position around the tube. I used pd-flower-02 resized 30% and pd-flower-03 resized 35%.

Open pd-raven-01, paste as a new layer and bring to the top. Resize 35%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open pd-raven-02 and paste as a new layer. Resize 28%, place in position and apply the drop shadow. I dragged this raven down below the book layer and stood him on the ribbon.

Crop your tag and resize if required. Add your copyright information and text and export as a jpeg with compression set to 5 or on a transparent background as a png.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial, if you have any questions, please email me here. I would love to see your result and include it in my gallery.

Trouble

For this tutorial you will need a close up tube and part body tube.
I am again using the fantastic art of
Screaming Demons.
You need a license to use Screaming’s art,
you can get one here.

I am using another awesome kit called “Trouble” by
You can get the kit here.
Thank you Cora!

You will also need a mask, I used Vix mask 349, here.

Font used is Rat Infested Mailbox,
this is a free font, you can get it here.

Don’t forget to sharpen your elements after resizing and rotating, essential for a good looking tag (adjust – sharpness – unsharp mask – radius and clipping 5, strength 50).

Open a new transparent canvas 600 by 600 pixels and flood fill with white.

Open one of the papers and copy, I used pd-pp-07. Make a new layer on your canvas, select all, paste the paper into the selection, de-select and apply the mask. Resize 85%.

Open pd-frame-02 and paste as a new layer. Resize 55% and rotate 40 degrees to the left. Select the interior of both parts of the frame and expand the selection by 3. Open one of the papers and copy, I used the same paper as the mask layer. Paste the paper as a new layer below the frame, invert the selection and hit delete to remove the excess. Do not de-select.

Open your close up tube, copy and paste as a new layer. Resize as required and position nicely inside the frame. When you are happy with the position, hit delete to remove the excess and lower the opacity to around 50. Go back to the frame layer and apply a drop shadow, vertical and horizontal 5, opacity 70, blur 10. Close off your background and mask layers and merge visible, you can then re-open the closed layers.

Open pd-arrow and paste as a new layer. Resize 75%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open your main tube and paste as a new layer. Resize as required, position her coming out of the arrow and apply the last drop shadow.

Open pd-metal-mat and paste as a new layer. Resize 55%, drag down so its just above the mask layer, place in position and apply the last drop shadow.

Open pd-star-01 and paste as a new layer. Resize 70%, place in position on top of the mat and apply the last drop shadow.

Open pd-flower-03 and paste as a new layer. Duplicate and close out the duplicate for now. Resize 75%, move down so is showing at the bottom, right hand side of the arrow and apply the last drop shadow.

Open pd-flower-02 and paste as a new layer. Resize 70%, place in position on top of the last flower and apply the drop shadow.

Open pd-mesh-01 and paste as a new layer. Resize 50% and rotate 90 degrees to the left. Place in position and apply a drop shadow, vertical and horizontal 1, opacity 80, blur 5.

Open your duplicate of pd-flower-03, resize 80%, place in position so its showing at the top, right hand side and apply the original drop shadow, vertical and horizontal 5, opacity 70, blur 10.

Open pd-ribbon-01 and paste as a new layer. Resize 55% and drag up so its between the arrow and the main tube layer, place in position and apply the last drop shadow.

Open pd-flower-01, paste as a new layer and bring to the top. Mirror, resize 50%, place in position and apply the last drop shadow.

Open pd-button-01 and paste as a new layer. Resize 80%, place in position and apply the last drop shadow.

Open pd-star-01 again and paste as a new layer. Resize 70% again, place in position and apply the last drop shadow.

Check the position of all your elements and adjust if necessary. Go back to the arrow layer and erase a little so the bar from the frame goes over the top of it instead of below it.

Crop your tag and resize if required. Add your copyright information and text and export as a jpeg with compression set to 5 or on a transparent background as a png.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial, if you have any questions, please email me here. I would love to see your result and post it on the gallery!

Goff

In this tutorial I am using the art of Screaming Demons.
You need a license to use Screaming’s art, you can get one here.

I am using a fab kit called “Goff” by
You can get the kit here.
Thank you so much Cora!

You will also need a mask, I used Becky’s mask 022.
You can get the mask here.

Font used is Broken Ghost,
a free font, you can get it here.

If you wish to do the same effect as I did on the font,
You will need Alien Skin Eye Candy 5, Impact, Glass.

Don’t forget to sharpen your elements after resizing and rotating, essential for a good looking tag (adjust – sharpness – unsharp mask – radius and clipping 5, strength 30).

Drop shadow used throughout is vertical and horizontal 2, opacity 75, blur 5.

Open a new transparent canvas 650 by 550 pixels and flood fill with white.

Open one of the papers and copy, I used pd-pp-05.  Make a new layer on your canvas, select all, paste the paper into the selection, de-select and apply the mask. Resize 85%.

Open pd-frame-03 and paste as a new layer. Resize 70% and rotate 20 degrees to the left.  Select both parts of the interior of the frame with your magic wand and expand the selection by 2.  Open another of the papers and copy, this time I used pd-pp-03. Paste the paper as a new layer below the frame, invert the selection and hit delete to remove the excess, de-select.  Apply the drop shadow to the frame layer.

Open pd-frame-01 and paste as a new layer. Resize 65%. Open a paper and copy, I used the same paper as I did for the mask layer. Select the interior of the frame with your magic wand and expand the selection by 10. Make a new layer below the frame and paste the paper into the selection, de-select.

Open your tube and paste as a new layer, resize as required and position so she is coming out of the frame, apply the drop shadow.

Open your tube again and paste as a new layer.  Mirror and resize so it's a little larger than the first tube, drag down below the tube layer and place in position. Select the interior of the frame again and expand the selection by 10 as before, invert the selection, go back to the tube layer and delete the excess tube.  Lower the opacity to around 30. Go back to the frame layer and apply the drop shadow.

Open pd-flower-01 and paste as a new layer. Resize 80%, drag down so its just above the first frame layer and apply the drop shadow.

Open pd-flower-02 and paste as a new layer. Mirror, resize 60%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open pd-print-01 and paste as a new layer. Resize 75% and place in position over the last two flowers. Duplicate and move the duplicate over to the left. Apply the drop shadow to both layers.

Open pd-lips and paste as a new layer.  Resize 90%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open pd-star-01 and paste as a new layer. Resize 80%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open pd-star-02, paste as a new layer and bring to the top. Resize 70%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open pd-hearts-01 and paste as a new layer. Resize 50%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open pd-staple and paste as a new layer. Place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Crop your tag and resize if required, add your copyright information and text.

The effect I have done on the text is Alien Skin, Eye Candy 5, Impact, glass on the “Clear” setting. I find it better to select the text, float and de-float before applying the plugin.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial, if you have any questions please email me here. I would love to see your result and feature it on my gallery!

Going Batty

In this tutorial I am using the art of TooshToosh.
The tube I am using is an exclusive tube.
If you wish to use TooshToosh’ art, you need to obtain a license,
you can get one here.

I am using a really cute Halloween kit called “Going Batty” by

Unfortunately this kit is no longer available but I have left the
tut up for people that already have it or have a substitute.

You will also need a mask, I used Melissaz Creationz’ mask 1, here.

Font used is Metro Regular.
This is a free font, you can get it here.

This is a quick, easy tutorial and is suitable for beginners.
I have given detailed instructions and screenshots so, if you are entirely new to
Paintshop, you can make your first tag here!

When you resize or rotate items in Paintshop, they always get a little blurry and this can quite easily spoil your tag but we can easily put this right by sharpening the element up again. So, after you have resized or rotated an element, go to adjust – sharpen – unsharp mask. You can play around with the settings in there but I usually have them at radius and clipping 5 and strength between 30 and 50, on this tutorial I had my strength at 30.

Another thing for a nice looking tag is to use a drop shadow on your elements, otherwise your tag will look really flat. To do a drop shadow go to effects – 3d effects – drop shadow. The drop shadow used in this tag is vertical and horizontal 2, opacity 70, blur 5.

Open a new transparent canvas 600 by 550 pixels (file – new, type in the pixel high and width, make sure the resolution is set to 72,000 as that is the highest resolution allowed by artists/licensing companies, transparent box checked),  flood fill your canvas with white.

Open one of the papers, right click on it and copy, I used tk-goingbatty-pppurple. Make a new layer on your canvas (layers – new raster layer), select all (selections – select all), right click and paste the paper into the selection, then de-select (selections – select none). Open your mask in PSP and minimise. Go to layers – new mask layer – from image and browse for the mask. Check the box “source luminance” and then hit ok. Resize the mask 75%.

Open one of the frames with the spider web, I used tk-goingbatty-acrylicframe-web2, right click, copy and paste as a new layer on your canvas. Resize 75%, unsharp mask and apply the drop shadow.

Open another of the papers and copy, this time I used tk-goingbatty-ppgreen. Activate your selection tool set to rectangle and draw a rectangle going through the centre of the frame (see my screenshot below). Make a new layer below the frame layer, right click and paste the paper into the selection, then de-select.

Open tk-goingbatty-cat and paste as a new layer. Mirror (image – mirror), rotate 15 degrees to the left (image – free rotate – left and free boxes checked, type in 15 in the box), resize 50%. Drag this layer down below the frame and paper layers (drag it down physically in your layers palette). Position the cat with the mover tool so its peeping out from the left hand side of the frame, unsharp mask and then apply the drop shadow.

Open tk-goingbatty-cloud2, copy and paste as a new layer then bring it to the top (layers – arrange – bring to top). Resize 45%, place in position so the cloud is a little bit over the edge on the right hand side and top of the frame.  There is no drop shadow on this layer as its partly transparent and a drop shadow spoils it.

Open tk-goingbatty-moonbats and paste as a new layer. Mirror and resize 30%, place in position using my tag for reference, unsharp mask and apply the drop shadow.

Open tk-goingbatty-headstones, copy and paste as a new layer. Resize 40%, place in position, unsharp mask and apply the drop shadow.

Open one of the skulls and copy, I used tk-goingbatty-skull2green, copy and paste as a new layer. Resize this also by 40%, place in position, unsharp mask and apply the drop shadow.

Open one of the pumpkins, I used tk-pumpkins1, copy and paste as a new layer. Resize 60%, place in position, unsharp mask and apply the drop shadow.

Open tk-goingbatty-crow1, copy and paste as a new layer. Mirror, resize 35%, place in position on the pumpkins, unsharp mask and apply the drop shadow.

Open tk-goingbatty-crow2, copy and paste as a new layer. Mirror, resize 45%, place in position in front of the tombstones, unsharp mask and apply the drop shadow.

Open your tube, copy and paste as a new layer, Resize it to your liking, place in position, unsharp mask if required, usually I lower the strength if a tube needs sharpening, then apply the drop shadow.

Check the positions of your elements, mask and tube and adjust to your liking. When you are happy, crop your tag (just click on the crop tool and draw round it, then apply the crop) and then apply your copyright information.

Use your dropper tool to pick a nice colour for your font. If you are using a version of Windows before 7, you can can just open the font in Paintshop and minimize it, if you are using Windows 7, you will need to open it with a front viewer or temporarily install it,  type out your name. You will see the font is very flat so we are going to give it a bevel. First we need to convert it to a raster layer (layers – covert to raster layer). Then go to effects – 3D effects – inner bevel and apply the settings as in my screenshot below, now you will see the font is nicely rounded, move it into position and apply the drop shadow.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial and that is has been helpful in teaching new paintshop users, if you have any questions, please email me here. I would love to see your result and put it on my gallery!

Here is another example of the tutorial using a Suzanne Woolcott tube. Again you need a license to use Suzanne's art, you can get one here.

Death Mask

In this tutorial I am using the art of Schnegge.
The pack comprises two tubes, one with and one without the mask,
each as a full body and a close up and also
an awesome graphic.
You require a license to use Schnegge’s art,
you can get one here.

I am using an awesome kit called Cool Skullz by
Broken Angel Creations.
You can get the kit here.

For the animation you will need Animation Shop and
Alien Skin Xenonfex 2 plugin.

You will require a background mask, I used Vix’ mask 133, here.
You will also need the 20-20 mask, which I have uploaded for you here.
You need to save the 20-20 mask to your masks folder (which is under
my documents - my PSP Files - masks) as we need to fit it to
layer and not to canvas. I think most of you will have this mask anyway.

Font used is Puteiro Anarquista.
This is a free font and you can get it here.

This tutorial is suitable for more advanced paintshop users.

Don’t forget to sharpen your elements after resizing/rotating to take away the blurriness (effects – sharpen – unsharp mask – radius and clipping 5, strength 30).

Drop shadow used throughout is vertical and horizontal 2, opacity 70, blur 5.

Open a new transparent canvas 650 by 650 pixels and flood fill with white.

Open one of the papers and copy, I used Paper12_BAC_CoolSkullz. Make a new layer on your canvas, select all, paste the paper into the selection, de-select and apply Vix' mask. Resize 80%.

Open Frame05_BAC_CoolSkullz and paste as a new layer. Resize 70% and move over slightly to the left. We will come back to the frame later.

Open Path_BAC_Coolskullz and paste as a new layer. Resize 75%, drag down below the frame layer and move down.

Open Flower05_BAC_CoolSkullz and paste as a new layer. Resize 80% and apply the drop shadow.

Open BarbedWire_BAC_CoolSkulls and paste as a new layer. Resize 65% and apply the drop shadow.

Open Star01_BAC_CoolSkulls and paste as a new layer. Resize 80% and apply the drop shadow.

Open the body tube 2 (the one without the mask), paste as a new layer and bring to the top. Resize 75% and apply the drop shadow.

Move all your elements and your tube into position using my tag for reference. You can still adjust them later if you need to.

Open Bow-01_BAC_CoolSkullz and paste as a new layer. Resize 40%, drag down below the tube and place in position on the top, right hand corner of the frame, apply the drop shadow.

Open Candle02_BAC_CoolSkullz and paste as a new layer. Resize 65%, place in position on the left, bottom of the frame and apply the drop shadow.

Open Nailpolish_BAC_CoolSkullz and paste as a new layer. Resize 40%, place in position by the candle and apply the drop shadow.

Open Lipstick_BAC_CoolSkullz and paste as a new layer. Resize this also 40%, place in position leaning against the nail polish and apply the drop shadow.

Open Bottle_BAC_CoolSkullz and paste as a new layer. Again resize 40%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open ZippedLips_BAC_CoolSkullz and paste as a new layer. Resize 40% again, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Once again, check the positions of your elements and then we will continue with the frame and animation.

Click on the frame to activate it and select the interior with your magic wand, expand the selection by 10. Make a new layer below the frame layer and flood fill with black. Do not de-select.

Open the tube close up 2 (the one without the face mask), paste as a new layer.  Resize 80% and place in position nicely in the frame, invert the select and delete the excess tube. Do not de-select.

Open the tube close up 1, paste as a new layer and resize 80%. Now you need to position this tube layer exactly over the first tube layer, it must not be even one pixel out or the animation will jump! Its not as difficult as it sounds. Firstly, lower the opacity of this  tube layer until you can clearly see the tube below. Click on the top tube with your mover tool and keeping the mover tool on the canvas, use the arrow keys to move the tube one pixel at a time until it is in the exact right spot. When you have positioned it exactly, bring the opacity back up to 100 and hit delete to remove the excess tube. You can now de-select.

Apply the 20-20 mask from disk to each of the close up layers with the settings on my screenshot below.

Close off the tube close up 2 layer and duplicate the tube close up 1 layer twice. Close of the second and third copies. On the first copy lower the opacity to around 50, there is no lightening effect on this layer. Close of that first copy and open the second copy.

On this second copy, apply Alien Skin Xenofex 2 Lightening plug in hitting on random seed until you find a flash you like (see my screenshot below). Close off this layer and open the third copy and apply the effect again hitting random seed again until you find something that looks good.

Some of the lightening will have gone outside the frame so we need to remove this. Select the interior of the frame with your magic wand again, expand by 10, invert and hit delete again on each of the layers with the lightening.  Apply the drop shadow to the frame layer.

Phew! I hope you are still with me! Trust me its not difficult when you are actually doing it!

Below is a screenshot of what your layers palette should look like. You will see I have renamed the close up tube layers to make it easier, rename yours the same way.

Crop your tag now and add your copyright information and text.

Now for the animation shop bit!  Have all the layers with close up 1 closed off and the single layer close up 2 open, that's the layer without the mask. Right click on your tag, copy merged and paste in animation shop as a new animation.

Close off CLOSE UP 2 and open CLOSE UP 1/LIGHT 1, copy merged and paste in animation shop after current frame.

Close off CLOSE UP 1/LIGHT 1 and open CLOSE UP 1, copy merged and paste in animation shop after the last frame.

Close off CLOSE UP 1 and open CLOSE UP1/LIGHT 2, copy merged and paste in animation shop after last frame.

Close of CLOSE UP/LIGHT 2 and open CLOSE UP 1 again, copy merged and paste in animation shop after the last frame.

Set your animation frame properties to 250 for the first frame and 20 for the rest. Put your tag through the optimization wizard on the default settings and save as a gif.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial and made it to the end lol, if you have any questions or feed back, please email me here.  I would love to see your result and feature it in my gallery!

Zindy's Angel

l

In this tutorial I am using an awesome kit specially designed for Zindy
The kit is called after Zindy and is exclusive to Dreamscape Imaging.

I am using two pieces of Zindy’s art but one tube will be fine.
You need a license to use Zindy’s art,
you can get one here.
There are also some free to use tubes available on Zindy’s site,
(although free you will still require a license).

You will also need a mask, I used Insatiable Dreams mask 160, here.

Font used is Dreamer One.
This is a free font and you can get it here.

Don’t forget to sharpen your elements after resizing/rotating to take away the blurriness (effects – sharpen – unsharp mask – radius and clipping 5, strength 30).

Drop shadow used throughout is vertical and horizontal 2, opacity 60, blur 5.

Open a new transparent canvas 650 by 600 pixels and flood fill with white.

Open one of the papers and copy, I used CBJ_ZindyPaper8.  Make a new layer on your canvas, select all, paste the paper into the selection, de-select and apply the mask. Resize 85%.

Open CBJ_Zindy_Starshower and paste as a new layer. Resize 55% and place in position towards the top. Duplicate this layer, mirror and flip the duplicate. Apply the drop shadow to both layers.

Open CBJ_ZindyBranch and paste as a new layer. Resize 65% and apply the drop shadow.

Open CBJ_ZindyClkFace and paste as a new layer. Resize also 65%, move up and over to the left a bit and apply the drop shadow.

Open CBJ_ZindyStar and paste as a new layer. Again resize 65%, move over to the right and apply the drop shadow.

Open CBJ_ZindyPlant and paste as a new layer. Resize 50%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open CBJ_ZindyFlutFrm and paste as a new layer. Resize 30%, rotate 70 degrees to the right and adjust the position. Select the interior of the frame with your magic wand and expand the selection by 10.

Open CBJ_Zindy_Paper2 and copy. Make a new layer below the frame layer and paste the paper into the selection. Do not de-select.

Open one of your tubes or your main tube and mirror. Paste as a new layer on your canvas, resize as required and position in the frame, invert the selection and delete the excess tube, de-select. Change the blend mode to overlay then go back to the frame layer and apply the drop shadow.

Open CBJ_ZindyRibbon2 and paste as a new layer. Rotate 20 degrees to the left, resize 40%, place in position on the bottom of the frame and apply the drop shadow.

Open your main tube and paste as a new layer, resize as required, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Now open some of the flowers, resize as required and position around the frame below the tube. I used :

CBJ_ZindyFlw5, resized 15%.
CBJ_ZindyFlw1, resized 30%.

Witches' Brew

Witches' Brew

In this tutorial I am using the art of Alicia Mujica.
You require a license to use Alicia’s art,
you can get one here.
Please note that you need to request a special license for Alicia’s art.

I am using a really lovely scrap kit called “Witches Brew” by
This is a beautiful kit and there are many more
elements than I have used.
You can get the kit here.

You will also need a mask, I used Gems’ mask 180, here.
I used the font AL Boogie Woogie.
This is a free font and you can get it here.

**********
Don’t forget to sharpen your elements after resizing and rotating, essential for a good looking tag (adjust – sharpness – unsharp mask – radius and clipping 5, strength 30).

I used the same drop shadow throughout, vertical and horizontal 2, opacity 75, blur 5.

Open a new transparent canvas, 650 by 600 pixels and flood fill with white.

Open one of the papers and copy, I used sb_pmt_witches-brew_pp2.  Make a new layer on your canvas, select all, paste the paper into the selection, de-select and apply your mask. Resize 90%.

Open sb_pmt_witches-brew_fence2 and paste as a new layer. Resize 65% and apply the drop shadow.

Open sb_pmt_witches-brew_pentagram2 and paste as a new layer. Resize 80%, position the pentagram on the fence and apply the drop shadow.

Open sb_pmt_witches-brew_branch3 and paste as a new layer. Resize 70%, place in position along the bottom of the fence and apply the drop shadow.

Open sb_pmt_witches-brew_frame 4, don’t paste on your canvas yet. Resize 25%. Copy your tube again and paste as a new layer. Resize it very tiny so its small enough to fit in the frame and then drag it below the frame layer, erase any of the tube that is outside the frame and apply the drop shadow to the frame. Open sb_pmt_witches-brew_bow3, paste as a new layer and bring to the top. Resize 17%, place in position on the frame and apply the drop shadow. Merge these layers together, copy and paste on your canvas and place in position on the fence.

Open sb_pmt_witches-brew_tree2 and paste as a new layer. Mirror, resize 70% and move a little up and to the left, apply the drop shadow.

Open your tube and paste as a new layer. Resize as required, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Check the positions of your elements so far. Erase any part of the tree trunk that shows at the bottom of your tube.

Open sb_pmt_witches-brew_cauldron and paste as a new layer. Drag down below your tube layer,  resize 40%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open sb_pmt_witches-brew_spell books and paste as a new layer. Resize 25%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open sb_pmt_witches-brew_spider and paste as a new layer. Resize also 25%, place in position on the books and apply the drop shadow.

Open sb_pmt_witches-brew_potion9 and paste as a new layer. Resize 30%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open sb_pmt_witches-brew_flower2 and paste as a new layer. Resize 15%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open sb_pmt_witches-brew_smoke2 and paste as a new layer. Resize 80% and duplicate, position either side of the tube.

Open sb_pmt_witches-brew_potion10 and paste a new layer. Resize 80%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Crop your tag and resize if required. Add your copyright information and text and export as a jpeg with compression set to 5 or on a transparent background as a png.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial, if you have questions, feel free to email me here. I would love to see your result and feature it in my gallery!

Badriyah

In this tutorial, once again I am using the awesome art of
Screaming Demons.
You require a license to use this art, you can get one here.

The kit is another fabulous kit for the tube called “November”
You can get the kit here.

You will also need a mask, I used weescotslass’ mask 241, here.

Font used is Buffied,
a free font, you can get it here.

I have given instructions for the text, if you wish to do the same
effect you will need Alien Skin Eye Candy 5, Impact filter.

Don’t forget to sharpen your elements after resizing and rotating, otherwise your elements will be blurry.

I have also used different shadows to complement the different elements, you can use mine but its good to experiment with your own shadows as different elements and background colours need different shadows.

Open a new transparent canvas 650 by 650 pixels and flood fill with white.

Open one of the papers and copy, I used pd-pp-09. Make a new layer on your canvas, select all, paste the paper into the selection, de-select and apply your mask. Resize 90%.

Open pd-frame-01 and paste as a new layer. Resize 70%.

Open another of the papers and copy, this time I used pd-pp-02. Select the interior of the frame with your magic wand, make a new layer below the frame layer, expand the selection by 10 and paste the paper into the selection. Apply a drop shadow on the frame, vertical and horizontal 5, opacity 80, blur 10.

Open pd-spiderweb and paste as a new layer. Resize 50%, apply the unsharp mask twice. Place in position over the top of the frame and apply a drop shadow, vertical and horizontal 1, opacity 100, blur 3.

Open pd-spider and paste as a new layer. Resize 40% and rotate 30 degrees to the right. Duplicate the spider, mirror the duplicate and resize again 80%.  Position the larger spider on the top, left corner of the frame and the smaller on the bottom, right corner. Apply the unsharp mask twice and then the same drop shadow as for the spiderweb to each layer.

Open your tube, copy and paste as a new layer. Resize as required and position nicely in the frame. Apply the same drop shadow as you did for the frame.

Open pd-flower-01 and paste as a new layer. Resize 28%, place in position and apply the last drop shadow.

Open pd-flower-03 and paste as a new layer. Resize 15%, place in position and apply the last drop shadow.

Open pd-key and paste as a new layer. Resize 20%, place in position and apply a drop shadow, vertical and horizontal 2, opacity 80, blur 5.

Open pd-moon and paste as a new layer. Resize 70%, drag down until its just above the mask layer, place in position and apply a drop shadow, vertical and horizontal 0, opacity 50, blur 20.

Open pd-tulle-01 and paste as a new layer. Mirror, resize 65% and place in position. Again unsharp mask twice on this layer and apply a drop shadow, vertical and horizontal 1, opacity 80, blur 3.

Open pd-tulle-02 and paste as a new layer. Rotate 90 degrees to the left and resize also 65%. Place in position, use the unsharp mask twice again and apply the same drop shadow as the first tulle layer, erase any that shows at the bottom of the frame.

Open pd-splatter-01 and paste as a new layer. Resize 60% and duplicate. Place in position so the splatter is showing each side of the frame and apply a drop shadow, vertical and horizontal 2, opacity 80, blur 5.

Open pd-chandelier and paste as a new layer. Resize 60%, place in position and apply the vertical and horizontal 5, opacity 80, blur 10 drop shadow.

Open pd-bats and paste as a new layer. Resize 35%, place in position making sure to put the bottom bat over the chandelier frame, apply the last drop shadow.  Go back to your chandelier layer and erase the top part of the chain.

Crop your tag and resize if required, add your copyright information.

If you would like to do the text the same as I did, you will need to make a pattern.  Copy one of the splatter layers and paste as new image. Crop a small section as in my screenshot below.

Go to effects – image effects – seamless tiling and apply with the settings in my screenshot here.

Apply your text with the background set to the pattern you have just made and no foreground. Apply Alien Skin Eye Candy 5, Impact, Glass, click on “settings” and choose “clear”, click on ok.  Unsharp mask with radius and clipping on 5 and strength on 50. Apply a drop shadow, vertical and horizontal 2, opacity 80, blur 5.

I hope you have enjoyed this tutorial, if you have any questions, please email me here. I would love to see you tag and include it in my gallery!
