Honeypot

In this tutorial I used the art of Deacon Black.
You need a license to use Deacon’s art.
I purchased mine from CILM but they are now available here.
This is one of my favourite tubes.

The kit I used is called “Honey Pot” and is by
This is a lovely kit, thank you Sarah!
You can get it here.

You will also need a mask, I used Insatiable Dreams mask 182, here.

Font used is “Honeycombed”, a free font, here.

Your elements will need sharpening after resizing/rotating. If you are not familiar with this, check out my Tips and Tricks page for more info.

Unless otherwise stated, I used a drop shadow of vertical and horizontal 2, opacity 70, blur 5.

Open a new transparent canvas 650 by 550 pixels and flood fill with white.

Open sb_pmt_honey-pot_pp2 and copy.  Make a new layer on your canvas, select all, paste the paper into the selection, deselect and apply the mask.    Resize 87%.

Open sb_pmt_honey-pot_frame3 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 80%.  Select the interior of the frame with your magic wand and expand the selection by 20.

Open sb_pmt_honey-pot_pp12.  Make a new layer below the frame and paste the paper into the selection, do not deselect.

Open your tube, mirror it and then copy and paste it as a new layer.  Resize as needed, position in the frame using my tag as an example, invert the selection and hit delete to remove the excess tube, do not deselect.

Open sb_pmt_honey-pot_dripping honey and paste as a new layer.  Resize 65% and place in position, again hit delete to remove the excess, deselect.  Apply the drop shadow to the frame, tube and dripping honey and set the blend mode on the tube to “overlay”.

Open your tube again, undo the mirror, copy and paste as a new layer making sure its at the top, resize as needed, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open sb_pmt_honey-pot_greenery 1 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 45%, mirror, rotate 40 degrees to the right, drag down below the tube, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open sb_pmt_honey-pot_flower 4 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 50%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open sb_pmt_honey-pot_flower 2 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 60%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open sb_pmt_honey-pot_honeystick and paste as a new layer.  Resize 60%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open sb_pmt_honey-pot_hive and paste as a new layer.  Resize 40%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open sb_pmt_honey-pot_ribbon 1 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 55%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open sb_pmt_honey-pot_honey jar and paste as a new layer.  Resize 30%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open sb_pmt_honey-pot_bee 1, paste as a new layer.  Resize 40% and rotate 20 degrees to the right, place in position on the frame and apply the drop shadow.

Open sb_pmt_honey-pot_bee 2 and paste as a new layer.  Again resize 40%, flip and rotate 20 degrees to the left, place in position as apply the drop shadow.

Open sb_pmt_honey-pot_splat 3 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 70%, drag down until it's just above the mask layer and position towards the right.  Duplicate and move the duplicate over to the left. Erase any splats out that are too far out from the mask, I just erased a couple.  Apply the drop shadow to each layer but lower the opacity to 40.

Check the positions of your layers and make any necessary adjustments.  When you are happy, crop your tag and add your copyright information.

Choose two colours for your name. Open the font, set it to “bold” and type out your name.  Add an inner bevel with the settings as my screenshot below, place it in position and apply the drop shadow making sure to change the opacity back to 70.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial, if you have any questions, please email me here and don't forget to send me your result so I can include it in the gallery!
