Boom!

In this tutorial I used a fabulous tube by Elias Chatzoudis.
You need a license to use Elias’ art,
available here.

The kit I used is called “You’re a Firework” by
You can get it here.
This is a great kit, thank you Sarah.

You will also need a mask, I used Monti’s circle mask, here.

Font is A Weird Party, here.

As always, a note to remind you to sharpen up your elements after resizing, otherwise they will be a little blurry.  Check out my Tips and Tricks page for more info.

I used a drop shadow throughout of vertical and horizontal 2, opacity 75, blur 5.

Open a new transparent canvas 650 by 600 pixels and flood fill with white.

Open sb_pmt_youre-a-firework_pp1 and copy.  Make a new layer on your canvas, select all, paste the paper into the selection, deselect and apply the mask.  Duplicate, merge the top layer down onto the bottom layer and resize 85%.

Open sb_pmt_your-a-firework_star1 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 80%, move up and over to the left a little and apply the drop shadow.

Open sb_pmt_your-a-firework_star2 and paste as a new layer.  Resize also 80%, over down and over to the right a little and apply the drop shadow.

Open sb_pmt_your-a-firework_firework1 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 80%, move up and to the right a little.  No drop shadow on this layer.

Open sb_pmt_your-a-firework_firework6 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 80%, move very slightly up and to the left. Again, no drop shadow.

Open your tube and paste as a new layer, resize as needed, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open sb_pmt_youre-a-firework_stars3 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 65%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open sb_pmt_your-a-firework_word art 1 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 60%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open sb_pmt_your-a-firework_ribbon2 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 65%, place in position on the top of the word art and apply the drop shadow.  Take your oblong selection tool set to rectangle and with the feather set to 0 and draw a selection around the ribbon like my screenshot below.  Right click and “cut”.  Right click again and “paste as a new layer”.  The piece you deleted with come back on a new layer.  Drag this part down below the word art and join the two pieces up.  Click back on the top piece of ribbon and merge it down onto the word art, then merge the word art down onto the bottom piece of ribbon.

Open sb_pmt_youre-a-firework_cupcake and paste as a new layer.  Resize 40%, drag down below the tube, place in position to the right of her and apply the drop shadow.

Open sb_pmt_youre-a-firework_candy3 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 50%, place in position on the left of the tube and apply the drop shadow.

Open sb_pmt_youre-a-firework_candy2 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 60%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.  Erase any of the stick that shows below the word art merged layer.

Open sb_pmt_youre-a-firework_firework7 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 70% and rotate 40 degrees to the right, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Check the positions of your layers and make any necessary adjustments, when you are happy, crop your tag and add your copyright information and text, then export as a jpeg with compression set to 5 or on a transparent background as a png.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial, if you have any questions, please email me here.  As always, I would love to see your result and include it in the gallery!
