Arachnid

In this tutorial I used the art of Eugene Rzhevskii.
You need to licence to use Eugene’s art,
they are available here.

I used an awesome kit called “Arachnid” by
Love this kit and the colours,
thank you Sarah!
You can get the kit here.

You will also need a mask, I used Weescotslass’ mask 249, here.

Font is AL Boogie Woogie, here.

Remember to sharpen up your elements after resizing/rotating as otherwise they will be blurry; check out my Tips and Tricks page for more info.

I used a drop shadow throughout of vertical and horizontal 2, opacity 80, bur 5.

Open a new transparent canvas 650 by 580 pixels and flood fill with white.

Open sb_pmt_arachnid_pp1 and copy.  Make a new layer on your canvas, select all, paste the paper into the selection, deselect and apply the mask.

Open sb_pmt_arachnid_frame6 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 80%.

Open sb_pmt_arachnid_pp and copy.  Select the interior of the frame with your magic wand and expand the selection by 10, make a new layer below the frame and paste the paper into the selection, deselect.

Open your tube, duplicate and close the original, select your layers, copy merged and paste as a new layer on your tag.  Resize as needed (if you are using the same tube as me, I resized 30%), place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open sb_pmt_arachnid_print3 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 50%, drag down so its just above the mask and position on the left hand side.  Duplicate this layer, mirror and flip the duplicate and position on the right.  Apply the drop shadow to both layers.

Open sb_pmt_arachnid_web1 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 80%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open sb_pmt_arachnid_leaves and paste as a new layer.  Resize 80% and position towards the top on the right hand side of the frame.  Duplicate, mirror the duplicate and position lower down on the right hand side.  Apply the drop shadow to both layers.

Open sb_pmt_arachnid_flower3, paste as a new layer and drag up above the frame.  Mirror, resize 55%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open sb_pmt_arachnid_flower1 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 55%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open sb_pmt_arachnid_flower2 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 80%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open sb_pmt_arachnid_feather and paste as a new layer.  Resize 45% and rotate 110 degrees to the left, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open sb_pmt_arachnid_string3 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 40%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open sb_pmt_arachnid_bow2 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 80%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open sb_pmt_arachnid_cupcake and paste as a new layer.  Resize 55%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open sb_pmt_arachnid_shoe2 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 35%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Check the positions of your layers and make any necessary adjustments.

Open your tube again and paste as a new layer.  Drag down so its just below the frame and resize if you need to (I didn’t resize mine), place in position in the frame.  Select the interior of the frame again with your magic wand and expand the selection by 10 as before then invert the selection, activate the tube, hit delete to remove the excess and deselect. Lower the opacity of the tube to around 30.  Apply the drop shadow to the frame.

Open sb_pmt_arachnid_spider1 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 40%, place in position, erase the web that shows above the frame and apply the drop shadow.

When you are done, add your copyright information and text, then export your tag as a jpeg with compression set to 5 or on a transparent background as a png.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial, if you have any questions, please email me here and don't forget to send me your result, I love to see them and include them in the gallery!
