Fairest of them All

In this tutorial I used the art of Irina Grank.
You need a license to use Irina’s art, I purchased mine from
My PSP Tubes.

I used a darling kit called “The Fairest of them All” by
You can get the kit here.

You will also need a mask, I used Gem’s mask 21, here.

Font is AL Dreamboat, here.

My usual reminder to you to sharpen up your elements after resizing/rotating. This is essential for a good looking tag, otherwise it will be a little blurry.  For more info, check out my Tips and Tricks page.

I used a drop shadow throughout of vertical and horizontal 2, opacity 75, blur 5.

Open a new transparent canvas 650 x 600 pixels and flood fill with white.

Open sb_pmt_TFOTA_pp13 and copy.  Make a new layer on your canvas, select all, paste the paper into the selection, deselect and apply the mask.  Resize 88%.

Open sb_pmt_TFOTA_dwarves house and paste as a new layer.  Resize 85%.

Open sb_pmt_TFTA_print 4 and paste as a new layer.  Mirror, resize 80%, drag down below the house and place in position

Open your tube, paste as a new layer and bring to the top, resize as needed, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open sb_pmt_TFOTA_frame 2 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 60%, drag down below the tube and place in position.

Set your foreground colour to white and your background colour to #747b88 and make a gradient using the settings in my screen shot below.

Select the interior of the frame with your magic wand and expand the selection by 10.  Make a new layer below the frame and fill it with the gradient and then apply a Gaussian blur with radius set to 10.  Do not deselect.

Duplicate your tube, drag it down between the frame and gradient layers, place in position, invert the selection and hit delete to remove the excess tube, deselect.  Lower the opacity on the tube to around 60 and apply the drop shadow to the frame.

Open sb_pmt_TFOTA_greenery2 and paste as a new layer.  This should be just above the frame.  Resize 50%, place in position on the frame and apply the drop shadow.

Open sb_pmt_TFOTA_greenery 1 and paste as a new layer. Flip, resize 50%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open sb_pmt_TFOTA_grass, paste as a new layer and bring to the top.  Resize 90%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.  Open your erasor tool, set the brush size to 50 and the opacity to 10.  Run the erasor along the bottom of the grass until it has blended into the mask.

Go back to greenery 2, open your oblong selection tool and draw a selection around the bottom part of the greenery.  Hit delete.  Right click and “Paste as a New Layer”.  The cut off part of the greenery will paste as a new layer.  Bring this to the top and join the two parts of the element back up.

Open sb_pmt_TFOTA_books and paste as a new layer.  Resize 40%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open sb_pmt_TFOTA_box for heart and paste as a new layer.  Resize 45%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open sb_pmt_TFOTA_bottle and paste as a new layer.  Resize 30%, drag down below the books, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open sb_pmt_TFOTA_ribbon 1, paste as a new layer and bring to the top.  Resize 40%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open sb_pmt_TFOTA_apple 3 and paste as a new layer.  Mirror, resize 15%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open sb_pmt_TFOTA_rose 2 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 15%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Check the positions of your layers and make any necessary adjustments.

Open the dwarves, paste each as a new layer and resize 25%. Place them in position on your tag to your liking and apply the drop shadow to each.

When you are ready to crop your tag, if you are going to save your tag as a png, make a new base layer and fill it with a dark colour so you can see the smoke from the house chimney and the stars then delete this layer after you have cropped.  This won’t matter if you are saving as a jpeg on a white background.

When you are all done, add your copyright information and text, then export as a jpeg with compression set to 5 or on a transparent background as a png.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial, it was fun to write!  If you have any questions, please email me here.  As always, I would love to see your result and include it in the gallery!
