In this tutorial I used a fun Thanksgiving day kit called
"Turkey Day" by
You can get it here.
You will also need a mask, I used Gem's mask 22, here.
The animation is very simple and all you will need is
there are no outside filters used.
Font is 2 Peas Weathervane, here.
Remember to sharpen up those elements after resizing as otherwise they will be a little blurry; check out my Tips and Tricks page for more info.
I used a drop shadow of vertical and horizontal 2, opacity 75, blur 5.
Open a new transparent canvas 650 by 600 pixels and flood fill with white.
Open one of the papers and copy, I used pd12-pp-07. Make a new layer on your canvas, select all, paste the paper into the selection, deselect and apply the mask. Resize 80%.
Open pd12-tree and paste as a new layer. Resize 70%, move over to the left and apply the drop shadow.
Open pd12-frame01 and paste as a new layer. Resize 50% and place in position.
Open another of the papers and copy, this time I used pd12-pp-08. Select the interior of the frame with your magic wand and expand the selection by 10, make a new layer below it and paste the paper into the selection, deselect and apply the drop shadow to the frame.
Open pd12-spoon and paste as a new layer. Resize 45%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.
Open pd12-flower-02 and paste as a new layer. Resize 45%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.
Open pd12-flower-01 and paste as a new layer. Resize 50%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.
Open pd12-ribbon-03 and paste as a new layer. Resize 30%, rotate 90 degrees to the left and mirror, place in position and apply the drop shadow.
Open pd-12-crow and paste as a new layer. Mirror, resize 35%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.
Open pd12-acorn and paste as a new layer. Resize 15% and duplicate. Rotate the duplicate 120 degrees to the right, place both acorns into position and apply the drop shadow to each.
Open pd12-turkey and paste as a new layer. Resize 40%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.
Check the positions of your layers and make any necessary adjustments, when you are done, crop your tag and add your text.
Duplicate the paper layer that is below the frame.
Starting from the top, close off all your layers down to and including the copy of the paper layer that is below the frame and then merge visible. Close off that merged layer and open all the other layers apart from the second paper layer and again merge visible. Rename the bottom layer "layer 1", the middle layer "layer 2" and the top layer "layer 3".
Your layer palette show now look like my screenshot below.
Click on the "layer 2" to activate it, copy it and paste in Animation Shop as a new animation. Go to Effects - Insert Text Effect. Select "Marquee" from the drop down menu. Check the box "Custom Color" and choose a colour for your text, I used #714d3f, a brown taken from my turkey. Next, click on "Font" and pick your font, I used the default font size 36. Then click on "Customize", uncheck the box "Center text vertically" and change the position of the text to make it a little higher. I set it to 70 but you may need to adjust this depending on the exact position of the rest of your layers. Effect Length should be 2.0 secs and Frames Per Second 10 fps. Click on "OK".
Go back to PSP and activate "layer 1", copy it and paste in Animation Shop "As a new animation". Your marquee animation has 21 frames so we need to duplicate this bottom layer to the same number of frames.
Click on the marquee animation and go to Edit - Select All - Edit - Copy. Click on your "layer 1" set of frames to activate them, right click and "Paste into selected frame". Position the marquee animation directly over the same paper on "layer 1".
Back in PSP, activate "layer 3", copy it and paste in Animation Shop as a new animation. Again, duplicate this layer so you have 21 frames then go to Edit - Select All - Edit - Copy and paste it on your main animation.
Finally, go to Edit - Select All - Animation - Frame properties and change the display time to 15 to slow the animation down slightly.
When you are done, run your tag through the optimisation wizard and safe as a gif.
