Stocking Faery

In this tutorial I used the art of Amy Brown.
You need a license to use Amy's art,
I purchased mine from CILM but they are now available here.

The kit I used is Amy Brown Artist Series 04 by
You can get the kit here.

You will also need a mask, I used Weescotslass' mask 141 here.

Font is Blackletter, here.

This is a very simple tag and suitable for beginners.

Resizing and rotating elements causes them to be a little blurry so they need to be sharpened; for more info, check out my Tips and Tricks page.

I used a drop shadow throughout of vertical and horizontal 2, opacity 75, blur 5.

Open a new transparent canvas 600 by 600 pixels and flood fill with white.

Open pd12-pp-05 and copy.  Make a new layer on your canvas, select all, paste the paper into the selection, deselect and apply the mask.  Resize 90%.

Open pd12-wreath and paste as a new layer.  Resize 70%.

Select the interior of the wreath with your magic wand and expand the selection by 50.

Open pd12-pp-04 and copy.  Make a new layer on your canvas below the wreath and paste the paper into the selection, deselect and apply the drop shadow to the wreath.

Open your tube and paste as a new layer, resize as needed, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open pd12-ribbon-02 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 60%, drag down below the tube, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open pd12-holly-01 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 70%, place in position, erase the bottom of the stalk where it's too long and apply the drop shadow.

Open pd12-flower-01 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 40%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open pd12-holly-03 and paste as a new layer.  Mirror, resize 60%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open pd12-ornament and paste as a new layer.  Resize 25%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open pd12-glitter and paste as a new layer.  Resize 55%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Check the positions of your layers and make any necessary adjustments.  When you are done, crop your tag and add your copyright information and text, then export as a jpeg with compression set to 5 or on a transparent background as a png.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial, if you have any questions, please email me here and don’t forget to send me your result!
