The Magic of Christmas

In this tutorial I used the beautiful art of Amy Brown.
You need a license to use Amy's art.
I purchased mine for this tube from CILM but they now available

The kit I used was inspired by a different tube by Amy, no.71-4
and is by CrazyCarita.
The kit is also available at Creative Design Outlet
(release date 9th November).

You will need two masks.
For the background I used Vix' BigMask018, here
(click on masks and scroll down, its in Big Masks Set 2).
You will also need Vix' Christmas mask 9, here.
(Under Goodies, its in the December 2007 set).

Font is Great Vibes, here.

Remember to sharpen up your elements after resizing/rotating or they will look a little blurry; for more info, check out my tips and tricks page.

I used a drop shadow throughout of vertical and horizontal 2, opacity 75, blur 5.

Open a new transparent canvas 650 by 550 pixels and flood fill with white.

Open one of the papers and copy, I used pp2.   Make a new layer on your canvas, select all, paste the paper into the selection, deselect and apply the mask.  Resize 90%.

Open fr1, paste as a new layer and resize 75%.

Open pp6 and copy.  Select the interior of the frame with your magic wand and expand the selection by 20, make a new layer below it and paste the paper into the selection. Do not deselect.

Open Vix's Christmas mask 9 in paintshop, copy it and paste it as a new layer on your canvas.  Resize 75% and position inside the frame, invert the selection and hit delete to remove the excess.  Change the blend mode on the mask to "Soft Light" and apply the drop shadow to the frame.  Close off the white background layer and mask layer and merge visible then re-open the closed layers and move the merged layer over slightly to the right.

Open el14 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 75% and rotate 10 degrees to the left, drag down below the merged layer, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open your tube, paste as a new layer and bring to the top.  Resize as needed, place her roughly in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el12 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 80%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el4 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 55%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el7 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 70%, drag down so its just above the merged layer and place in position.  Duplicate, rotate the duplicate 90 degrees to the right and place in position.  Apply the drop shadow to both layers.

Open el2 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 80%, drag drag down so its below the duplicate copy of el7, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Check the positions of your layers and make any necessary adjustments.  When you are done, crop your tag, add your copyright information and text, then export as a jpeg with compression set to 5 or on a transparent background as a png.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial.  If you have any questions, please email me here and don't forget to send me your result, I love to see them and include them in the gallery!
