Christmas Story

In this tutorial I used the art of Barbara Jensen.
This tube is a bonus tube and is free with a purchase
of $10 from Barbara's store here.

The kit I used is a beautiful exclusive kit called
"Christmas Story" by
The kit is also available at Barbara's store.

You will also need a mask, I used Rebel Dezigns
mask April 7, here.

Font is Black Chancery, here.

Your elements will need to be sharpened after resizing/rotating as it makes them a little blurry; check out my Tips and Tricks page for more info.

I used a drop shadow throughout of vertical and horizontal 2, opacity 70, blur 10.

Open a new transparent canvas 600 by 600 pixels and flood fill with white.

Open one of the papers and copy, I used pp6.  Make a new layer on your canvas, select all, paste the paper into the selection, deselect and apply the mask.  Resize 85%.

Open el6 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 75%.

Open another of the papers and copy, this time I used pp7.  Select the interior of el6 with your magic wand and expand the selection by 10, make a new layer below it and paste the paper into the selection, deselect. Apply the drop shadow to the frame and merge it down onto the paper.

Open your tube and paste as a new layer, resize as needed, place in position and apply the drop shadow.  If you are using one of Barbara's tubes, duplicate it and close the original, choose your layer options, copy merged and paste on your canvas.  I resized my tube 70%.

Open el4b and paste as a new layer.  Resize 70%, drag down below the tube, place in position and apply the drop shadow,.

Open el3 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 50%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el22 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 60%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open two of the baubles, I used el25b and el25c.  Paste each bauble as a new layer, resize 25%,  place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el20 and paste as a new layer.  Resize also 25%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el21 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 25%,  mirror, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el14 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 55%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el31b and paste as a new layer.  Resize 75%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el4 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 55%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el5 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 80%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el15 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 50%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el7, paste as a new layer and bring to the top.  Resize 40%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el2b and paste as a new layer.  Resize 45%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el15 again and paste as a new layer.  Resize 45%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el1b and paste as a new layer.  Resize 45%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el12 and paste as a new layer.  Mirror, resize 40%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el11 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 40%, duplicate and mirror the duplicate, place both birds into position and apply the drop shadow to each.

Check the positions of your layers and make any necessary adjustments.  Go back to the second copy of el15 and draw an oblong selection around the right hand section, hit delete, right click on your canvas and "paste as  a new layer", the deleted section will come back on a new layer.  Drag this layer above el1b and join the two pieces up.

Crop your tag and add your copyright information and text then export as a jpeg with compression set to 5 or on a transparent background as a png.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial, if you have any questions, you can email me here.  As always, I would love to see your result and include it in the gallery!
