Magical Moments

In this tutorial I used the beautiful art of Suzanne Woolcott.
You need a license to use Suzanne’s art, you can get yours here.

I used Sky Scraps part of the Bunny Trail mini store collab.
I really loved this kit, its beautiful!
You can get it here.
Thank you Marie!

You will also need a mask, I used Monti’s circle mask, here.

I used the front 5thGrader, you can get it here.

As always, you will need to sharpen the elements after resizing, for more information see my Tricks and Tips page.

Drop shadow used is vertical and horizontal 2, opacity 70, blur 5.

Open a new transparent canvas 650 by 600 pixels and flood fill with white.

Open SkyScraps-Bunnytrail-pp1 and copy.  Make a new layer on your canvas, select all, paste the paper into the selection, de-select and apply the mask.  Resize 90%, duplicate and merge the duplicate down onto the original layer.

Open SkyScraps-Bunnytrail-E1, paste as a new layer and resize 45%.  Select the interior of the frame with your magic wand and expand the selection by 20, make a new layer below the frame layer and flood fill with a pale yellow or green colour, I used #ebeeca.  Do not de-select.

Open your tube, mirror it and copy and paste it as a new layer. Resize as needed and position nicely in the frame, invert the selection and hit delete to remove the excess tube.  Apply the drop shadow to the frame and lower the opacity on the tube to around 55.

Open SkyScraps-Bunnytrail-E6 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 70% and mirror, drag down below the frame, tube and paper layers and place in position, apply the drop shadow.

Open SkyScraps-Bunnytrail-E3, paste as a new layer and bring to the top.  Resize 50%, place in position along the top of the frame and apply the drop shadow.

Open SkyScraps-Bunnytrail-E4 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 50%, place in position along the bottom of the frame and apply the drop shadow.

Open SkyScraps-Bunnytrail-E20 and paste as a new layer.  Mirror, resize 90%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open SkyScraps-Bunnytale-E12 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 60%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open SkyScraps-Bunnytrail-E19 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 65%, drag down below E12, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open your tube, undo the mirror, copy and paste as a new layer, resize as needed, place in position and apply the drop shadow.  My tube covered part of the bunny on E20 so I erased part of it to bring the bunny to the top.  The best way to do this is to zoom in, increasing your canvas size to around 150, then lower the opacity of the tube so you can see the bunny below it and erase the parts that are covering it.

Open SkyScraps_Bunnytrail-E17 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 50%, position it on the peg on E3 and do the same thing there, erasing part so it looks like its below the peg.

Open SkyScraps-Bunnytrail-E21 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 50%, drag down below the tube and place in position behind her.

Check the positions of your layers and make any necessary adjustments, when you are happy, crop your tag, add your copyright information and text and export as a jpeg with compression set to 5 or on a transparent background as a png.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial, if you have any questions, please email me here.  I would, as always, love to see your result and include it in the gallery!

Fighting Talk

In this tutorial I have used an awesome pre-paid tube by Sky Scraps.
You need a license to use Sky Scraps’ art, available here.

I have used InzpiredCreationz part of a fabulous collab kit called “Ready to Fight”.
This is a huge kit packed full of goodies, many more than I have used in my tag,
you can seriously make a lot of tags with this kit!!!
You can get the collab or the individual kit here.

You will need the 20/20 mask which I have uploaded for you here.
I also used Brutal Designs mask 11, here.

Font used is Broken Ghost, a free font, here.

Remember you will need to sharpen those elements after resizing/rotating otherwise they will look a little blurry.  Check out my Tips and Tricks page if you are not familiar with how to do this.

Unless otherwise stated, I used a drop shadow of vertical and horizontal 2, opacity 70, blur 5.

Open a new transparent canvas 650 by 600 pixels and flood fill with white.

Open one of the Papers and copy, I used Paper 14.  Make a new layer on your canvas, select all, paste the paper into the selection and apply Brutal Designs’ mask. Resize 80%.

Open Paper 15 and copy.  Again, make a new layer on your canvas, the selection should still be there, paste the paper into and apply the 20/20 mask.  Resize this mask 75%, duplicate it and, without moving it, merge down onto the original layer so it’s a bit deeper in colour.

Open Halftone and paste as a new layer. Resize 75% and move over to the left. Apply a drop shadow of vertical and horizontal 1, opacity 70, blur 5.

Open Frame 4, paste as a new layer and resize 60%.  Select the interior of the frame with your magic wand and expand the selection by 10, make a new layer below the frame layer and flood fill with black. Do not de-select.

Open your tube. The tube I have used comes in four colourways, I used layer 1 for this part and mirrored it.  Paste the mirrored tube as a new layer, resize as needed and position nicely in the frame, invert the selection and hit delete to remove the excess.  Apply a drop shadow to the frame layer changing it to vertical and horizontal 2, opacity 70, blur 5 and lower the opacity on the tube to around 60.  Close off the white background layer and both mask layers and merge visible.  Re-open the closed layers and move the merged layer over a little to the right, you can adjust the positioning later.

Open Jail Door and paste as a new layer.  Resize 70%, place in position and apply the last drop shadow.

Open Crates and paste as a new layer.  Mirror (I mirrored this because I wanted some more green on the tag), resize 70%, move over to the left and apply the last drop shadow.

Open Gun and paste as a new layer.  Resize 75% and rotate 15 degrees to the left, place in position and apply the last drop shadow.

Open Bomb and paste as a new layer.  Resize 40%, place in position and apply the last drop shadow.

Open Battery and paste as a new layer.  Resize 50%, place in position and apply the last drop shadow.

Open Ribbon 3 and paste as a new layer.  Mirror, resize 65%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open Knucks and paste as a new layer.  Resize 55%, place in position and apply the last drop shadow.

Open Whip and paste as a new layer.  Mirror, resize 70%, place in position and apply the last drop shadow.

Open Bullet and paste as a new layer.  Resize 50%, place in position and apply the last drop shadow.

Open Pill 1 and paste as a new layer.  Mirror, resize 30%, place in position and apply the last drop shadow.

Open your tube again, undo the mirror if you are using the same one and paste as a new layer.  For the main tube I used layer 3.  Resize your tube as needed, place in position and apply the last drop shadow.

Open Sparkles 1 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 80%, drag down below your main tube layer and position behind her.

Check the positioning of all your elements and when you are happy, crop your tag and resize if required, add your copyright information and text and export as a jpeg with compression set to 5 or on a transparent background as a png.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial, if you have any questions, please email me here.  I would of course love to see your result and include it in the gallery!

Can't be Tamed

In this tutorial I used the art of Ted Hammond.
You need a license to use Ted’s art,
I purchased mine from CILM but they are now available here.

Kit used is “Can’t be Tamed” by Pimp’d Designz,
you can get it here.
Thank you Cora!

You will also need a mask, I used Weescotslass’ mask 7, here.

Font used is Buffied, a free font, here.

You will need Animation Shop if you wish to do the animation.

Remember to sharpen those elements after rotating/resizing, check out my Tips and Tricks section for more info.

Open a new transparent canvas 650 by 550 pixels and flood fill with white.

Open one of the papers and copy, I used pd-pp-04.  Make a new layer on your canvas, select all, paste the paper into the selection, de-select and apply the mask.

Open pd-print-03 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 70% and rotate 10 degrees to the left. Apply a drop shadow, vertical and horizontal 5, opacity 70, blur 10.

Open pd-handcuffs and paste as a new layer.  Resize 80% and apply the last drop shadow.

Open pd-music-sheets and paste as a new layer.  Resize 70%, drag down below the print layer, place in position and apply the last drop shadow.

Open pd-prints-02 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 60% and position on the right hand side. Duplicate this layer, flip it and move over to the left hand side. Apply a drop shadow of vertical and horizontal 2, opacity 70, blur 5 to each layer.

Open pd-glitter-01 and paste as a new layer. Resize 50% and place in position on the right hand side.  Duplicate and move the duplicate over to the left hand side.  Apply the last drop shadow to each layer.

Open your tube, copy, paste as a new layer and bring to the top, place in position and apply the first drop shadow of vertical and horizontal 5, opacity 70, blur 10.

Open pd-flower-03 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 60%, drag down below the tube, place in position and apply the last drop shadow.

Open pd-flower-01 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 55%, place in position and apply the last drop shadow.

Open pd-ribbon03, paste as a new layer, place in position and apply the last drop shadow.

Open pd-charm-01 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 80% and rotate 30 degrees to the right, place in position and apply the last drop shadow.

Open pd-feather-02 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 40%, place in position and apply a drop shadow of vertical and horizontal 2, opacity 70, blur 5.

Check the positions of your layers and make any necessary adjustments.  When you are happy, crop your tag and resize if required then add your copyright information and text.

If you do not wish to continue with the animation, save your tag as a jpeg with compression set to 5 or on a transparent background as a png.

Animation:

Close out your layers starting from the top down to and including the handcuffs layer, click on one of the open layers to activate it and merge the rest visible, rename this merged layer “bottom”. Close out this merged layer, leave the handcuffs layer closed out, activate one of the top layers and again merge visible, rename this merged layer “top". Rename the handcuffs layer “handcuffs”.  Your layers palette should now look like my screenshot below.

Copy the handcuffs layer and paste it in animation shop as a new animation.  Go to effects – insert image effect – underwater.

On the first page change the effect length and frames per second as in my screenshot below and then click on “customize”.

When the new page opens, change the sunlight intensity and the water depth properties as in my screenshot below and then pull the little nodules on the waves so they roughly resemble mine.  If you have too many waves, just pull the excess ones right out of the box and they will disappear, if you don’t have enough waves, just pull one out from the centre nodule.  This doesn’t have to be exact, my waves are just to give you a rough idea.

When you happy, click on ok and the first box will come back and you can see a preview, click on ok again.  You should now have 7 frames of the handcuffs. Click on the first frame, you will see there is no effect on it, so delete it.

Go back to paintshop and copy “bottom” layer, paste it in animation shop as a new animation.  You will need to have the same number of frames of the bottom layer as you have of the handcuffs so duplicate it until you have 6 frames.  Click on the handcuffs animation to activate it, go to edit – select all – edit – copy, click on the first of the bottom frames and go to edit – select all – edit – paste into selected frame.  Position the handcuffs on the first bottom frame and click to set them into each  frame.

Go back into paintshop and copy “top” layer and again paste in animation shop as a new animation.  Duplicate so you have 6 copies and select all, copy and paste as you did before onto the main animation.  If you are not happy with the position, just hit the back button and try again!  The animation will be running a little fast so you need to change the frame properties to 20 (edit – select all – animation – frame properties).  Run your tag through the optimization wizard and save as a gif.  Check out my Tips and Tricks page for how to save a tag in animation shop without optimizing so you can add names later).

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial, if you have any questions, please email me here.  I would love to see your result and include it in the gallery!

Easter's Coming

In this tutorial I am using the beautiful “Easter’s Coming” collection by
You can get the collection at Zindy’s site, here.
Thank you Zindy and Jo.

You will also need a mask, I used Insatiable Dreams mask 496, here.

I used the font Big Fish Ensemble, here.

Remember to sharpen your elements after resizing and rotating, check out my Tips and Tricks section for more info.

Drop shadow used throughout is vertical and horizontal 2, opacity 60, blur 5.

Open a new transparent canvas 650 by 600 pixels and flood fill with white.

Open one of the papers and copy, I used CBJ_SCPaper6.  Make a new layer on your canvas, select all, paste the paper into the selection, de-select and apply the mask.  Resize 85%.  There was a little bit in the top right hand corner I didn’t think should be there so I erased it.

Open CBJ_SC_PlainFrame and paste as a new layer.  Resize 45% and rotate 80 degrees to the left.

Open another of the papers and copy, this time I used CBJ_SCPaper11.  Select the interior of the frame with your magic wand and expand the selection by 5, make a new layer below the frame layer and paste the paper into the selection.  Do not de-select.

Open the close up tube, mirror and paste as a new layer. Resize as needed and position nicely in the frame, invert the selection and hit delete to remove the excess tube.  Apply the drop shadow to both the tube and frame layers and set the opacity of the tube to around 50.  Close off the white background and mask layers and merge visible, re-open the closed layers and move the merged layer over a little to the right.

Open CBJ_SCButterflyTrail and paste as a new layer.  Resize 40% and place in position. No drop shadow on this element.

Open CBJ_SCFlower2 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 45%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.  You will need to erase the bottom of the stalk of this flower when you have the main tube in position.

Open CBJ_SCSweetPeas and paste as a new layer.  Resize 40%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open CBJ_SCBird1 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 50%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open CBJ_SCBird2 and paste as a new layer.  Again resize 50%, mirror, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open the main tube, copy and paste as a new layer, resize as needed and place in position.   If you use the tube with the grass as I did, tick the box to apply the drop shadow on a separate layer.  The grass is semi transparent and the drop shadow doesn’t look good on it but by doing the shadow on a separate layer you can erase the part of it around the edge of grass.  I rotated this tube 10 degrees to the left.

Open CBJ_SCOrchids and paste as a new layer. Resize 40%, drag down below the tube layer, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open CBJ_SCSnowdrop and paste as a new layer.  Resize 40%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open CBJ_SCEEgg and paste as a new layer.  Resize 20%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open CBJ_SCRibbon and paste as a new layer.  Rotate 10 degrees to the right and resize 35%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open CBJ_SCEEgg2 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 20%, place in position and apply the drop shadow

Open CBJ_SCEEgg3, paste as a new layer and bring to the top.  Resize also 15%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open CBJ_SCBunny and paste as a new layer. Resize 20%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open CBJ_SCDuckling and paste as a new layer.  Resize 10%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open CBJ_SCBeads and paste as a new layer.  Resize 80% and drag down so its just above the mask layer. Place in position on the left hand side and then duplicate and move the duplicate over to the right. There is already a drop shadow on the beads so no need to add another.

Check the positioning of all your layers. When I was happy with everything, I erased the part of the mask that showed below the grass at the bottom.  Crop your tag and resize as required, add your copyright information and text as export as a jpeg with compression set to 5 or on a transparent background as a png.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial, if you have any questions, please email me here.  I would, as always, love to see your result and include it in the gallery!

3 beautiful clusters.
You can get the kit and clusters here.

You will also need Monti’s circle mask, here.

Font used is Pharmacy, a free font, here.

 **********

Don’t forget to sharpen those elements after you have resized them. If you don’t know how to do this, check out my Tips and Tricks page.

I used a soft drop shadow throughout of vertical and horizontal 2, opacity 50, blur 7.

Open a new transparent canvas 650 by 600 pixels and flood fill with white.

Open a paper for the background mask and copy, I used sb_pmt_hoppy-spring_pp7.  Make a new layer on your canvas, select all, paste the paper into the selection and apply the mask.  Resize 85%.

Open sb_pmt_hoppy-spring_pp3 and copy.  Make another layer on your canvas, you should still have the selection there, paste the paper into it, apply the mask again and remove the selection. Resize this mask layer 65% and move it up and to the left a bit.

Open sb_pmt_hoppy-spring_frame1 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 55% and rotate 90 degrees in either direction.

Open another of the papers and copy, this time I used sb_pmt_hoppy-spring_pp9.  Select the interior of the frame with your magic wand and expand the selection by 20. Make a new layer below the frame layer and paste the paper into the selection.

Open your tube, copy it and paste as a new layer on your canvas, resize as needed and position nicely inside the frame, invert the selection and hit delete to remove the excess.  Apply the drop shadow to both the tube and frame layers. Lower the opacity on the tube to around 70, merge it down onto the paper layer and apply the blinds texture with width on 3, opacity on 10, colour black and horizontal and light from left/top both checked.  Merge the frame layer down onto this layer and move over a little to the right.

Open sb_pmt_hoppy-spring_splatter3, paste as a new layer and drag down below the merged layer.  Resize 55% and duplicate, place in position one on each side and  apply the drop shadow.

Open sb_pmt_hoppy-spring_tree and paste as a new layer.  Resize 60%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.  You will probably need to erase some of the base of the tree when you have your other elements in place.

Open sb_pmt_hoppy-spring_grass, paste as a new layer and bring to the top.  Resize 40% and place in position on the bottom, left hand corner of the frame, apply the drop shadow.

Open sb_pmt_hoppy-spring_flower1 and paste as a new layer.  Mirror, resize 40%, place in position on top of the grass and apply the drop shadow.

Open your tube again, copy it and paste it as a new layer, resize as needed, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open two of the eggs, I used sb_pmt_hoppy-spring_egg1 and egg4.  Resize one 40% and the other 30%, drag both down behind the tube and place in position, apply the drop shadow to each.

Open flower1 again and paste as a new layer, this time resize it 30%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Check the positions of your layers and make any necessary adjustments, when you are happy, crop your tag and resize if required, add your copyright information and text and export as a jpeg with compression set to 5 or on a transparent background as a png.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial, if you have any questions, please email me here. I would of course love to see your result and feature it in the gallery!

Eggstravaganza

In this tutorial I am using the art of Alicia Mujica.
You need a license to use Alicia’s art,
I purchased mine here.

I used a beautiful, brand new kit called “Happy Bunny Eggs” by

Unfortunately this kit is no longer available but I have left the
tut up for people that already have it or have a substitute.

You will also need a mask, I used Gem’s mask 180, here.

Font used is Angelina, here.

**********

Don’t forget to sharpen your elements after resizing, you can check out my Tips and Tricks page for help on this.

Drop shadow I used is vertical and horizontal 2, opacity 50, blur 7.

Open a new transparent canvas 650 by 600 pixels and flood fill with white.

Open tk-happybunnyeggs-paper13 and copy.  Make a new layer on your canvas, select all, paste the paper into the selection, de-select and apply the mask. Resize 90%.

Open tk-happybunnyeggs-frame4 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 70%, mirror and rotate 10 degrees to the right.  Select the interior of the frame with your magic wand and expand the selection by 10.

Open the paper again and copy it, make a new layer below the frame layer and paste into selection. Do not de-select.

Open your tube and mirror it.  Copy and paste it as a new layer, resize as needed and position nicely in the frame.  Invert the selection and hit delete to remove the excess tube, you can now de-select.  Apply the drop shadow to the frame layer.

Open your tube again and undo the mirror, copy and paste it as a new layer, resize as needed, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open tk-happybunnyeggs-element31 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 80%, drag down below the main tube layer, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open tk-happybunnyeggs-element14, paste as a new layer and bring to the top.  Resize 55% and position along the bottom of your tube.  Erase any of the tube that shows below the element.

Duplicate this last element and mirror it, drag it down below the tube layer and position so a little is showing on the left of the tube, so it looks like the eggs are around her.  Erase any that shows on the right hand side.  Duplicate the original element again, mirror it, drag it down below the tube and position so a little is showing on the right of her, again erase any that shows on the left.

Open tk-happybunnyeggs-element15 and paste as a new layer. Drag it up so its just below the top row of eggs, resize 80% and rotate 7 degrees to the right, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open tk-happybunnyeggs-element25 and paste as a new layer.  Reize 45%, rotate also 7 degrees to the right, drag down and tuck it behind the ribbon layer, apply the drop shadow.

Open tk-happybunnyeggs-element20 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 65%, drag it down so its just above the fence layer, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open tk-happybunnyeggs-element 21 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 45%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Check the positions of your layers and make any necessary adjustments.  When you are happy, crop your tag and resize if required, add your copyright information and text and export as a jpeg with compression set to 5 or on a transparent background as a png.  I put a nice rounded inner bevel on my font and then used the change to target tool to colour it (check out my Tips and Tricks on the change to target tool).

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial, if you have any questions, please email me here and don’t forget to send me your result so I can add it to the gallery!

Bakewell Tart

In this tutorial I am using the art of Jehsee.
You need a license to Jehsee’s art,
available at Dreamscape Imaging.

Again I am again using the fabulous “Cupcake Surprise” Collab kit
which comprises a set of kits from some awesome designers,
In this tag I have used the kits by Schnegge’s Scraps and PolkaDot Scraps.
You can get the kit here.

You will need a mask, I used Monti’s circle mask, here.

Font used is Melted DL, a free font here.
Tutorial includes the effect on the text which uses no outside filters
but you will need asfalt02 texture.
I have uploaded it here in case you don’t have it.
Put the texture in your “Textures” folder
(my documents – my psp files – textures).

Remember to sharpen your elements after resizing/rotating – check out my “Tips & Tricks” page for help with this.

Other than the text, I used a drop shadow of vertical and horizontal 2, opacity 70 blur 5.

I re-coloured some of the items from the kits to complement my tube better, again see my “Tips & Tricks” page for help on re-colouring.

Open a new transparent canvas 650 by 600 pixels and flood fill with white.

Open one of the papers and copy, I used PDS_CS_paper7. Make a new layer on your canvas, select all, paste the paper into the selection, de-select and apply the mask. Resize 85%.

Open PDS_CS_print and paste as a new layer.  Open frame03_CupcakeSuprise_Schnegge and use your dropper tool to select the brown colour on this element.  Back on your canvas, make a new layer and floodfill with the brown.  Activate the print layer and go to selections – select all – selections float – selections de-float, switch back to the plain brown layer, invert the selection and hit delete, de-select.  Delete the original print layer, resize the brown layer 80% and move over slightly to the right.

Activate frame 3 again, copy and paste it as a new layer, resize 80%.

Select the interior of the frame with your magic wand and expand the selection by 2.  Make a new layer below the frame layer and flood fill with the brown again.  Do not de-select.

Open your tube, mirror it and then copy and paste it as a new layer.  Resize if needed and position inside the frame, invert the selection and hit delete to remove the excess tube.  Apply the drop shadow to both the frame and the tube layers and lower the opacity of the tube to around 55.  Close of your white background layer, the mask layer and the print layer and merge visible, re-open the closed layers and move the merged layer over a little to the left.

Open your tube again, undo the mirror, copy and paste as a new layer, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open heartcookies_CupcakeSuprise_Schnegge and paste as a new layer.  Drag down below the tube layer, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open PDS_CS_flower2 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 50%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open beads_CupcakeSurprise_Schnegge and paste as a new layer.  Resize 75%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open cupcake02_CupcakeSurprise_Schnegge and paste as a new layer.  Resize 60%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open bakinsheet_CupcakeSurprise_Schnegge and paste as a new layer.  Resize 55%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open rollingpin_CupcakeSuprise_Schnegge and paste as a new layer.  Resize 65%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open PDS_CS_leaves1 and paste as a new layer. Resize 65%, drag right down until its above the brown print layer and place in position, erase any that shows at the bottom and apply the drop shadow.

Open deco-Cupcake_Surprise_Schnegge and paste as a new layer.  Resize 75% and position so a little is showing on the left of the merged layer, apply the drop shadow.

Check the positions of your elements and make any necessary adjustments. When you are happy crop your tag, resize if required and add your copyright information.

Select a nice brown colour for the background colour on your text, there is no foreground colour.  Open the font and type your name. Convert to raster layer. Go to effects – texture effects – texture, browse for the asfalt texture and apply it to the text with my settings shown below.

Apply an inner bevel with the following settings.

Apply the drop shadow but change the vertical to 0, place the text in position then export your tag as a jpeg with compression set to 5 or on a transparent background as a png.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial, if you have any questions, please email me here.  I would of course love to see your result and include it in the tag gallery!

Sugar and Spice

In this tutorial I am using the art of Pinup Toons.
You need a license to use Pinup Toons’ art,
you can get one here.

I am using part of a beautiful collab kit called “Cupcake Surprise”.
The collab includes kits from five awesome designers:
In this tutorial I have used elements from the kits by
Designs by Sarah and TK Dezigns.
You can get the kits here.

You will also need a mask, I used Brutal Designs mask 11, here.

I used Filters Unlimited 2 paper texture.
If you don’t have Filters Unlimited you can use your own texture.

I used a free font called Bright Young Things,
you can get it here.

As always, remember to sharpen your elements after resizing/rotating so they are not blurry (adjust – sharpen – unsharp mask, radius and clipping 5, strength 30).

Drop shadow used is vertical and horizontal 2, opacity 70, blur 5.

Open a new transparent canvas 650 by 600 pixels and flood fill with white.

Open one of the papers and copy, I used sb_pmt_cupcake_suprise_pp7.  Make a new layer on your canvas, select all, paste the paper into the selection and apply the mask. Resize 85%.

Open tk-cupcaksesurprise-element21 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 75%.  Select the interior of the frame with your magic wand and expand the selection by 20.

Open another of the papers and copy, this time I used tk-cupcakesurprise-paper 2.  Make a new layer below the frame layer and paste the paste into the selection.  Save the selection to the alpha channel as we will need it again later (selections – load/save selection – save selection to alpha channel).  De-select.  The frame already has a shadow so no need to add another.

Open sb_pmt_cupcake_surprise_frame5 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 80%, drag down below the first frame and paper layers, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open your tube, paste as a new layer and bring to the top, resize as necessary, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open sb_pmt_cupcake_surprise_bow1 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 80%, drag down below the tube layer and position on the frame, apply the drop shadow.

Open tk-cupcakesurprise-element15 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 70%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open tk-cupcakesurprise-element16 and paste as a new layer.  Again, resize 70%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open tk-cupcakesurprise-element1 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 40%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open tk-cupcakesurprise-element2 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 45%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open sb_pmt_cupcake_surprise_chocolate2 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 80%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open sb_pmt_cupcake_surprise_chocolate1 and paste as new layer.  Resize also 80%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open tk-cupcakesurprise-element28 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 60% and rotate 65 degrees to the left, drag down below the two chocolate layers, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open your tube again and paste as a new layer. Mirror and resize if needed but leave larger than the main tube.  Drag this layer down so its between the main frame and paper layer, place in position and apply the drop shadow.  Bring up the selection you saved (selections – load/save selection – load selection from alpha channel), invert it and hit delete to remove the excess tube.  Lower the opacity to around 60, merge the tube down onto the paper layer and apply Filters Unlimited 2, Paper Texture, Canvas Fine with Intensity set to 65 and Lightness to 87.

Check the positions of your layers and make any necessary adjustments, then crop your tag and resize if required, add your copyright information and text and export as a jpeg with compression set to 5 or on a transparent background as a png.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial, if you have any questions, you can email me here.  I would love to see your result and include it in the gallery!

Electrify - FTU Kit

In this tutorial I am using the fabulous art of Jehsee.
You need a license to use Jehsee’s art,
available at Dreamscape Imaging.

I am using a free to use kit called School of Rock by
Made by Justine,
you can get it here.
 Thank you Justine!

You will also need a mask, I used Weescotslass’ mask 7,
you can get it here.

For the animation, you will need Alien Skin, Zenofex 2, Electrify plugin.

Font of choice.

Remember to sharpen your elements after resizing as otherwise they will be a little blurry (adjust – sharpen – unsharp mask, radius and clipping 5, strength 30).

Drop shadow used is vertical and horizontal 2, opacity 70, blur 5.

Open a new transparent canvas 650 by 550 pixels and flood fill with white.

Open one of the papers and copy, I used paper 6.  Make a new layer on your canvas, select all, paste the paper into the selection and apply the mask. Resize 95%.

Open paint and paste as a new layer.  Go to adjust – blur – motion blur, change the angle to 66 and the strength to 100 and hit ok. Repeat the motion blur.

Open frame 2 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 70%.  Select the interior parts of the frame with your magic wand and expand the selection by 5.

Open another of the papers, this time I used paper 7.  Make a new layer below the frame layer and paste the paper into the selection. Apply the drop shadow to the frame layer and merge down onto the paper layer.

Open fence 2 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 70%, drag down below the merged layer, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open Blank Note Pad and paste as a new layer.  Resize 55% and rotate ten degrees to the right, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open Beaded String, paste as a new layer and bring to the top.  Resize 30%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open your tube and paste as a new layer, resize as needed, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Check the positions of your layers and make any necessary adjustments. Don’t crop your tag because the electrify effect takes up space but resize if you want it smaller.

Duplicate your tube twice so you have three copies.  Close the eye on the two copies and make sure the original is activated.  Apply Alien Skin, Xenofex 2, Electrify with the settings in my screen shots below.

Close off this layer and open the second copy, again apply the plugin hitting on the random seed button to change the position of the electricity.  Repeat with the third copy.

Add your copyright information and text.  You should still have the first two copies of your tube closed.  Right click on your tag and “copy merged”.  Paste in animation shop “as a new animation”.

Close off this copy and open the second copy. Again, right click, copy merged and paste in animation shop “before current frame”.  Do the same thing with the third copy.

Change the animation speed to 25 for each frame (animation – frame properties) and then put your tag through the optimization wizard on the default settings and save as a gif.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial, if you have any questions, please email me here.  I would of course love to see your result and include it in the gallery!
