Lilac Lush

In this tutorial I used the gorgeous art of Barbara Jensen.
You need a license to use Barbara’s art,
I purchased the license for this tube here.

I am using a beautiful kit called “Lilacs and Cream” by
You can get the kit here.
Beautiful kit Cora, thank you!

You will also need a mask, I used Horseplays mask 17, here.

I used the font Delicious Cake by Jellyka, here.

You will need to sharpen your elements after resizing/rotating to take away the blurriness it causes. For more info, check out my Tips and Tricks page.

I used a drop shadow throughout of vertical and horizontal 5, opacity 70, blur 10.

Open a new transparent canvas 650 by 600 pixels and flood fill with white.

Open one of the papers and copy, I used pd12-pp-08.  Make a new layer on your canvas, select all, paste the paper into the selection, deselect and apply the mask.  Resize 90%.

Open pd12-print-01 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 80% and apply the drop shadow.

Open pd12-frame-04 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 70% and apply the drop shadow.  (If your tube does not completely cover the interior of the frame as mine does, you will need to paste a paper into it).

Open your tube and paste as a new layer, resize as needed, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open pd12-leaf-01 and paste as a new layer.  Mirror and flip, resize 90%, drag down below the frame layer, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open pd12-flowers-02 and paste as a new layer.  Again mirror and flip, resize 70%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open pd12-ribbon-05, paste as a new layer and bring to the top.  Resize 60%, place in position along the bottom of your tube/frame and apply the drop shadow.

Open pd12-flowers-01 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 60%, duplicate and close off the duplicate for now.  Mirror the original copy and position on the ribbon towards the left, apply the drop shadow.

Open pd12-sparkles and paste as a new layer, resize 70% and place in position.

Open pd12-clock and paste as a new layer.  Resize 60%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open the closed copy of flowers-01, drag it up above the clock,  place in position and apply the drop shadow.  I erased the top part of the chain from the clock that showed.

Open pd12-key and paste as a new layer.  Resize 65% and rotate 15 degrees to the right, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Check the positions of your layers and make any necessary adjustments.  When you are happy, crop your tag and add your copyright information and text.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial, if you have any questions, you can email me here and don't forget to send me your result, I would love to see it and include it in the gallery!

Open your tube and paste it as a new layer, resize as needed, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Earth

Earth

In this tutorial I used the beautiful art of Alicia Mujica.
You need a license to use Alicia’s art,
This tube and the license are available here.

I used a pretty kit called “Earth” by
You can get it here.
Thank you Cora!

You will also need a mask, I used HorsePlay’s mask 19, here.

I used Ulead Particle plugin.
This is a very nice free plugin and you can get it here.

I used the front “Evernight Stargazer”, here.

**********

The elements will need sharpening after resizing/rotating to take away the blurriness it cause, check out my Tips and Tricks page for more info.

Apart from the dirt layer,  I used a drop shadow of vertical and horizontal 2, opacity 70, blur 5.

Note regarding the Ulead plugin – I use PSP X3 and this plugin will not work unless you open paintshop as administrator (right click on your desktop icon and go to “run as administrator” and then click yes to the pop up box that opens). No idea why this is as it works fine in PSP9 and its taken me ages to figure out how to get it to work on X3.

Open a new transparent canvas 650 by 600 pixels and flood fill with white.

Open pd12-pp-09 and copy.  Make a new layer on your canvas, select all, paste the paper into the selection, deselect and apply the mask.  Resize 85%.

Open pd12-frame-01 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 55%.

Open the paper again or choose another and copy.  Select the interior of the frame with your magic wand and expand the selection by 10, make a new layer below the frame layer and paste the paper into the selection, deselect.  Apply the drop shadow to the frame layer and merge it down onto the paper layer.

Open pd12-dirt and paste as a new layer.  Resize 85%, apply a drop shadow of vertical and horizontal 1, opacity 50, blur 1.

Open pd12-paper and paste as a new layer.  Resize 55% and rotate 15 degrees to the right, drag down below the merged layer, place in position, erase the part that shows at the bottom of the merged layer and then apply the main drop shadow.

Open pd12-swirl-01 and paste as a new layer.  Rotate 90 degrees to the left and then mirror, resize 55%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open pd12-greens-01, paste as a new layer and bring to the top.  Mirror, resize 50%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open pd12-greens-02 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 50%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open pd12-flower-02 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 80%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open pd12-flower-01 and paste as a new layer.  Rotate 90 degrees to the left, resize 55%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open pd12-cloud and paste as a new layer.  Resize 70%, drag it down so its just above the merged layer and place in position along the bottom.

Open your tube, paste as a new layer and bring to the top, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open pd12-beads-03 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 35%, drag down below your tube and tuck it in behind her.

Open pd12-beads-01 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 35%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.  As there was no blue in my tube, I re-coloured the beads (check out my Tips and Tricks page for techniques on re-colouring).

Check the positions of your layers and make any necessary adjustments then close off your white background layer, the mask layer and your tube layer, merge visible and re-open the closed layers.  With your merged layer active, apply U-Lead Particle plugin, Firefly effect with my settings below.  I changed the colour to white because it worked best with the tube I used but you can play around with the colours. Click on the random button to change the position of the fireflies.

Crop your tag and add your copyright information and text, then export as a jpeg with compression set to 5 or on a transparent background as a png.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial, if you have any questions, please email me here.  Of course I would love to see your result and include it in the gallery!

Open PK-ZN-EYEROSE and paste as a new layer.  Resize 40%, place in position and apply the last drop shadow.

Open PK-ZN-FLOWER and paste as a new layer.  Resize 55%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open PK-ZN-CROWS, paste as a new layer and bring to the top.  Resize 70%, place in position and apply the last drop shadow. The very top crow is probably covering your tube's head so take your oblong selection tool and draw a selection around it, hit delete and then right click and “paste as a new layer”, remove the selection.  Drag the crow below the tube and place in position.

Check the positions of your layers and make any necessary adjustments. When you are happy, crop your tag, add your copyright information and text and export as a jpeg with compression set to 5 or on a transparent background as png.

Naughty

In this tutorial I am again using the art of Pinuptoons and a kit by
Schnegge’s Scraps “InspiredPUT103”.

You need a license to use Pinuptoons’ art,
I purchased mine from CILM.
Both the tube and kit are now available at

You will also need a mask, I used Weescotslass’ mask 133, here.

Font of choice.

Don’t forget to sharpen those elements after resizing, check out my Tips and Tricks page for more info.

I used a drop shadow throughout of vertical and horizontal 5, opacity 75, blur 5.

Open a new transparent canvas 650 by 500 pixels and flood fill with white.

Open one of the papers and copy, I used Paper03_InspPUT103Schnegge.  Make a new layer on your canvas, select all, paste the paper into the selection, de-select and apply the mask.  Resize 90%.

Open Frame02_InspPUT103_Schnegge and paste as a new layer.  Resize 90%.

Open your tube and paste it as a new layer.  Duplicate, mirror the duplicate and drag it down below the frame layer.  Resize the tubes as needed (I made the top tube a little smaller) place both in position and apply the drop shadow to each. When you have both tubes in position,  close the top tube out and we will work on the one in the frame.

Select the interior of the frame with your magic wand, expand the selection by 5, invert it and hit delete to remove the excess tube.  Do not deselect.

Open Paper08_InspPUT103_Schnegge and paste as a new layer.  Drag it down below the tube layer and resize it 70%.  Go back to the tube layer and sent the blend mode to “Difference”, position the paper nicely below the tube and hit delete to remove the excess, you can now deselect (the reason I have done things this way and not just pasted the paper into the frame is because then she had the hearts on the paper in the middle of her face which looked a bit odd).  Apply the drop shadow to the frame layer and re-open your closed tube layer.

Open Leaf_InspPUY103_Schnegge and paste as a new layer. Resize 90% and rotate 20 degrees to the left, drag down so its just above the mask layer, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open Bow01_InspPUT103_Schnegge, paste as a new layer and drag up so its above the frame, resize 65%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open Cupcake02_InspPUT103_Schnegge and paste as a new layer.  Resize 50%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open Flower01_Insp_PUT103_Schnegge and paste as a new layer.  Flip, resize 80%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open BrokenHeart_InspPUT103_Schnegge and paste as a new layer.  Resize 60%, drag down below Flower01, paste in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open Wordart03, paste as a new layer and bring to the top.  Resize 90%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Now is a good time to check the positions of your layers and make any necessary adjustments.

Take your oblong selection tool, make sure the feathering is set to “0” and draw a selection around the wordart as in my screen shot below.  Hit delete to remove that part of the element, right click and “paste as a new layer”.  The removed piece will come back on a new layer.  Drag it down below the tube and line it back up.

Open Dragonfly_InspPUT103_Schnegge and paste as a new layer.  Resize 30% and rotate 50 degrees to the right, place in position and apply the drop shadow.  I sharpened the dragonfly up after the resizing and again after the rotation as it became very blurry been resized so small.

Again, check the positions of your layers, when you are happy, crop your tag and resize if required, add your copyright information and text and export as jpeg with compression set to 5 or on a transparent background as a png.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial, if you have any questions, please email me here.  I would, as always, love to see your result and include it in the gallery!

Anarchy under the Sea

In this tutorial I am using the beautiful art of Jay Trembly.
You need a license to use Jay’s art, they are available here.

I used an awesome kit called “Anarchy” by
Sky Scraps.
I absolutely love this kit, thank you Marie!
You can get it here.

You will also need a mask, I used Insatiable Dream’s mask 195, here.

I used a Jellyka font called Western Princess on bold.
This is a free font and you can get it here.

It is essential that you sharpen your elements after resizing/rotating as otherwise they will be a little blurry, check out my Tips and Tricks page for further information.

I used a drop shadow throughout of vertical and horizontal 2, opacity 70, blur 5.

Open a new transparent canvas 650 by 600 pixels and flood fill with white.

Open SkySraps-Anarchy_pp3, duplicate and close the original  Go to effects – image effects – seamless tiling and apply it to the paper with the settings as my screenshot below.

Make a new layer on your canvas.  In your materials palette, click on the patterns button on the foreground box and browse for the paper, set the angle to ‘0’ and the scale to ‘25’ and flood fill the new layer with the pattern, then apply the mask.  Resize 90%.

Open SkyScraps-Anarchy-e28 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 90% and  move a little up and to the right.

Open SkyScraps-Anarchy-e49 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 70%, mirror, move over to the left and apply the drop shadow.

Open SkyScraps-Anarchy-e24 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 50%, place in position in front of e49 and apply the drop shadow.

Open SkyScraps-Anarchy-e40 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 55%, place it roughly in position (we will adjust it later) and apply the drop shadow.

Open SkyScraps-Anarchy-e44 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 65%, place in position on the right hand side and apply the drop shadow.

Open SkyScraps-Anarchy-e61 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 50%, drag it down below e44 and position it between e40 and e44.  When you have the three elements in position, erase the part of this layer that covers the top of e40.  Your tag should now look something like my screenshot below.

Open your tube and paste it as a new layer, resize as needed, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

OpenSkyScraps-Anarchy-e48 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 55%, drag down below the tube layer, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open SkyScraps-Anarchy-e25 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 20% and place in position just to the left of the previous element.  Duplicate this layer, mirror the duplicate and place in position on the right hand side over e44.  Apply the drop shadow to both layers.

Open SkyScraps-Anarchy-e34 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 40%, place in position on the right hand side and apply the drop shadow.

Open SkyScraps-Anarchy-e58 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 30%, place in position by the side of the last element and apply the drop shadow.

Open SkyScraps-Anarchy-e22 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 25%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open SkyScraps-Anarchy-e53 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 50%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open SkyScraps-Anarchy-e35 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 55% and rotate 80 degrees to the left, position so the tube is lying on the net and apply the drop shadow.

Open SkyScraps-Anarchy-e43, paste as a new layer and bring to the top.  Resize 32%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open SkyScraps-Anarchy-e31 and paste as a new layer. Resize 40%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open SkyScraps-Anarchy-e29 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 20%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open SkyScraps-Anarchy-e27 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 20%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open SkyScraps-Anarchy-e36 and paste as a new layer.  Resize also 20%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Check the positions of your layers and make any necessary adjustments. When you are happy, crop your tag and resize if required, add your copy right information and text and export as a jpeg with compression set to 5 or on a transparent background as a png.
