About Me

Hello and welcome to my blog! I am Vivienne, living in the UK and married with a son who now lives in Perth, Australia and a daughter who has given me two gorgeous grandsons! Paint Shop has been my hobby for more years than I can remember and I love making tags. I have always loved doing tutorials written by others and a couple of years ago started writing them myself. As well as tag tutorials, I also have a Tips and Tricks page where you will find tutorials on basic Paint Shop techniques. I hope you enjoy my blog and have fun with my tutorials. Please be sure also to check out the Tag Gallery and see some of the awesome results to the tutorials!

In this tutorial I used the art of Keith Garvey.
You need a license to use Keith’s art, available here.

I used a gorgeous St. Patty’s kit called “A Kiss for Luck” by
Gemini Creationz.
This is a great kit with loads of elements!
Check out Vicki’s site here for info on where to purchase her kits.

You will also need a mask, I used Designs by Vaybs’ mask 122, here.

Font is Abbess, here.

Remember to sharpen up your elements after resizing/rotating as otherwise they will look a little blurry; check out my Tips and Tricks page for more info.

I used a drop shadow throughout of vertical and horizontal 2, opacity 75, blur 5.

Open a new transparent canvas 650 by 550 pixels and flood fill with white.

Open one of the papers and copy, I used gemini_akiss4luck_p6.    Make a new layer on your canvas, select all, paste the paper into the selection, deselect and apply the mask.  Resize 90%.

Open gemini_akiss4luck_e50 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 80%, move up and to the left and apply the drop shadow.

Open gemini_akiss4luck_e43 and paste as a new layer.    Resize 80% and move over to the right.

Open your main tube and paste as a new layer, resize as needed, place in position and apply the drop shadow.   I resized my tube 75%,.

Go back to e43 and select the interior with your magic wand, expand the selection by 10 and fill with a dark green, I used #3a680b.

Open your tube again or the close up if you have one and paste as a new layer, resize and position inside the element, invert the selection and hit delete to remove the excess tube, deselect.   I used layer 3 of the tube resized 80%.  Erase any of the ribbon from e43 that shows below your main tube, apply the drop shadow to the element and to the tube and change the blend mode on the tube to “Overlay”.

Open gemini_akissforluck_e55 and paste as a new layer making sure its just below the main tube.   Resize 60%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open gemini_akissforluck_e54 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 65%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open gemini_akissforluck_e53 and paste as a new layer. Resize 70%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open gemini_akissforluck_e24 and paste as a new layer.    Resize 35%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open gemini_akissforluck_e8 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 45%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open gemini_akissforluck_e9 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 40% and rotate 20 degrees to the left, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open gemini_akissforluck_e10, paste as a new layer and bring to the top.   Resize 70%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open gemini_akissforluck_e7 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 35%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open gemini_akissforluck_e16 and paste as a new layer.  Mirror, resize 50%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open gemini_akissforluck_e3 and paste as a new layer.   Mirror, resize 35%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Check the positions of your layers and make any necessary adjustments.

Open gemini_akissforluck_e22 and paste as a new layer.  Move it so its just below your main tube and rotate 40 degrees to the right, place in position so it goes across the close up tube and down into the crock of gold.

Open gemini_akissforluck_e61 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 50% and position along the bottom of the rainbow.

Open gemini_akissforluck_e27 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 25% and rotate 20 degrees to the right, duplicate and mirror the duplicate, place both butterflies into position and apply the drop shadow to each.

When you are done, crop your tag, add your copyright information and text, then export as a jpeg with compression set to 5 or on a transparent background as a png.

I hope you enjoyed tutorial, you can email me here if you have any questions and don't forget to send me your result, I love to see them and include them in the gallery!
