Best of Luck

In this tutorial I used the art of Barbara Jensen.
You need a license to use Barbara’s art,
available from her store here.

I used a gorgeous kit called “Best of Luck” by
Crazy Carita.
The kit is also available at Barbara’s store.

You will also need a mask, I used Vix’ Big Mask 018, here.

Font is akaDora, here.

Remember to sharpen up those elements after resizing/rotating, otherwise they will look a little blurry; check out my Tips and Tricks page for more info.

I used a drop shadow of vertical and horizontal 5, opacity 75, blur 10.

Open a new transparent canvas 650 by 550 pixels and flood fill with white.

Open one of the papers and copy, I used pp1.  Make a new layer on your canvas, select all, paste the paper into the selection, deselect and apply the mask.

Open el18 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 85% and apply the drop shadow.

Open el7 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 70% and rotate 10 degrees to the right.  Move over to the right a little.

Open the paper again or another of your choice, I used pp1 again.  Select the interior of el7 with your magic wand and expand the selection by 10, make a new layer below it and paste the paper into the selection, do not deselect.

Open your tube or the close up if you have one and paste as a new layer, resize as needed and position inside the element, invert the selection and hit delete to remove the excess tube, deselect.   Change the blend mode on the tube to “Luminance (Legacy)” and apply the drop shadow to the frame.  I used the close up resized 85%.

Open your main tube and paste as a new layer, resize as needed, place in position and apply the drop shadow.  If you are using one of Barbara’s layered tubes, duplicate it and close the original, make your layer choices and copy merged.  I mirrored the tube and resized it 75%.

Open el17 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 85%, drag down below the main tube, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el9b and paste as a new layer.   Resize 50%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el19 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 50%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el6 and paste as a new layer.    Resize 60% and rotate 10 degrees to the right, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el20 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 60%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el14, paste as a new layer and bring to the top.  Resize 65%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Check the positions of your layers so far and make any necessary adjustments.

Open el12 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 90% and rotate 70 degrees to the right, drag down below el14, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el6 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 25%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el10, paste as a new layer and bring to the top.  Resize 40%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el15 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 25%, place in position, erase a little of the top part of the pin so it looks like its going through el14 and apply the drop shadow.

Again, check the positions of your layers and make any necessary adjustments.  If you are using the same tube as me, draw a rectangular selection around the tube’s hand something like my screenshot below, hit delete, right click anywhere on your tag and “paste as a new layer”, bring this layer to the top and position the two parts back together so the hand is over the banner.

When you are done, crop your tag and add your copyright information and text, then export as a jpeg with compression set to 5 or on a transparent background as a png.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial, if you have any questions, please email me here and don't forget to send me your result, I love to see them and include them in the gallery!
