I Love Summer

In this tutorial I used the fabulous art of Barbara Jensen.
You need a license to use Barbara’s art,
available direct from her store.
The tube I used is layered 29-1 “Backslide”.

The kit I used is called “Waikiki Beach” by
This is a gorgeous kit in mouth watering colours and
is also available at Barbara’s store.

At the time of writing this tutorial Barbara is running a 30% storewide
sale and bonus special.

You will also need a mask, I used Vix’ Big Mask 017.

Please read the “About my tutorials” page before starting the tutorial, thank you.

I used a drop shadow throughout of vertical and horizontal 2, opacity 75, blur 5.

Open a new transparent canvas 650 by 600 pixels and flood fill with white.

Open pp1 and copy.  Make a new layer on your canvas, select all, paste the paper into the selection, deselect and apply the mask.  Resize 95%, duplicate and merge the top layer down onto the original layer.

Open el29 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 55% and move down and to the right, duplicate and move the duplicate up and to the left, apply the drop shadow to both layers.

Open your tube and paste as a new layer, resize as needed, place roughly in position and apply the drop shadow.  If you are using one of Barbara’s layered tubes, duplicate it and close the original, make your layer options and copy merged.  I resized my tube 65%.

Open el23 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 45% and rotate 10 degrees to the right, drag down below the tube and place into position.

Open your paper again or choose a new one, I used the same one, select the interior of the frame with your magic wand and expand the selection by 20, make a new layer below it and paste the paper into the selection.

Open your tube again or the close up if you have one and paste as a new layer, resize as needed, position nicely in the frame, invert the select and hit delete to remove the excess tube, deselect.  Apply the drop shadow to the frame and the tube and change the blend mode on the tube to Luminance (Legacy).

Open el8 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 70% and rotate 30 degrees to the left, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el20 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 80% and rotate 20 degrees to the left, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el3 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 70%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el26 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 65% and rotate 20 degrees to the left, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el11 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 50% and rotate 40 degrees to the right, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el18 and paste as a new layer.  Mirror, resize 55%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el13 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 30% and rotate 20 degrees to the right, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el25 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 50%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el5 and paste as a new layer.   Mirror, resize 40%, position to the left of the tube and apply the drop shadow.

Open el24, paste as a new layer and bring to the top.   Rotate 10 degrees to the left, resize 80%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el15 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 35% and position on the left, duplicate, mirror the duplicate and position on the right.  Erase any of the stalks that show below the ivy and apply the drop shadow to each.

Open el5 again and paste as a new layer.   This time resize 35%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el9 and paste as a new layer.  Mirror, resize 50% and rotate 20 degrees to the left, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el2 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 25%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el4 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 30%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el16 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 20% and place in position.

Check the positions of your layers and make any necessary adjustments, when you are done, crop your tag, add your copyright information and text and export as a jpeg with compression set to 5 or on a transparent background as a png.
