About Me

Hello and welcome to my blog! I am Vivienne, living in the UK and married with a son who now lives in Perth, Australia and a daughter who has given me two gorgeous grandsons! Paint Shop has been my hobby for more years than I can remember and I love making tags. I have always loved doing tutorials written by others and a couple of years ago started writing them myself. As well as tag tutorials, I also have a Tips and Tricks page where you will find tutorials on basic Paint Shop techniques. I hope you enjoy my blog and have fun with my tutorials. Please be sure also to check out the Tag Gallery and see some of the awesome results to the tutorials!

In this tutorial I used the gorgeous tube “Windblown”
from pack 46 by
Barbara Jensen.
You can purchase the tube from

The kit is called “Choose Hope” by
This beautiful kit is also available at

I used two masks in my tag, mask 22 by
and big mask 017 by
Vix.

I used the font

Please check out my “About my tutorials” page if this is the first tutorial of mine that you have followed, thank you.

I used a drop shadow of vertical and horizontal 5, opacity 60, blur 10.

Open a new transparent canvas 650 by 600 pixels and fill with white.

Copy pp10, make a new layer on your canvas, select all, paste the paper into the selection and apply Gems’  mask.  Resize 95%.

Copy pp5, make a new layer and paste this paper into the selection, deselect and apply Vix' mask.

Open 19 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 60% and move up a little.  Select the interior of the element with your magic wand, expand the selection by 10 and make a new layer below it, copy pp2 and paste it into the selection, deselect.  Apply the drop shadow to the element and merge it down onto the paper.  Close off this layer while we do the next part so you can see easier what you are doing.

Open 15 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 60% and flip.  With your selection tool on rectangle and feather set to 0, draw an oblong selection around the frame just inside the border.   Make a new layer below the element, copy pp4 and paste it into this selection, deselect.  Apply the drop shadow to the element and merge it down onto the paper.  Open the layer you closed off, drag this layer below it and position on the right, duplicate, mirror the duplicate and move over to the left.

Open your tube and paste as a new layer, resize as needed, place in position and apply the drop shadow.  If you are using one of Barbara’s tubes, duplicate it and close the original, pick your layers and merge visible.  I resized my tube 70% and a little recolouring.  There is info on re-colouring on my “Tips and Tricks” page.  Barbara allows re-colouring, if you are using another artist’s work be sure to check their tous.

Open 13 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 50%, position on the right below the oval frame and apply the drop shadow.  Duplicate, mirror the duplicate and position on the left just above the mask layers.

Open 7 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 70% and rotate 25 degrees to the left.  Position below the tube and apply the drop shadow.

Open 25 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 70% and duplicate.  Place one copy below the tube on the left, mirror the other copy and position it on the right.  Apply the drop shadow to both layers.

Open 17 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 50%, position on the right and apply the drop shadow.  Duplicate, mirror the duplicate and position on the left.

Open 6 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 55% and rotate 20 degrees to the left.  Position on the left and apply the crop shadow.  Duplicate, mirror the duplicate and position on the right.

Open 9 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 50%, position below the copy of 6 which is on the right and apply the drop shadow.

Open 28 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 35%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open 26 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 35% and rotate 10 degrees to the left.  Place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open 30 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 40%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open 31 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 40%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open 2 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 35%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open 27, paste as a new layer and bring to the top.   Resize 45%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open 29 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 65%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open 1 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 40% and rotate 20 degrees to the right, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Check your layers and make any necessary adjustments.  When you are done, crop your tag, add your copyright information and text and export as a jpeg with compression set to 5 or on a transparent background as a png.
