About Me

Hello and welcome to my blog! I am Vivienne, living in the UK and married with a son who now lives in Perth, Australia and a daughter who has given me two gorgeous grandsons! Paint Shop has been my hobby for more years than I can remember and I love making tags. I have always loved doing tutorials written by others and a couple of years ago started writing them myself. As well as tag tutorials, I also have a Tips and Tricks page where you will find tutorials on basic Paint Shop techniques. I hope you enjoy my blog and have fun with my tutorials. Please be sure also to check out the Tag Gallery and see some of the awesome results to the tutorials!

In this tutorial I have again used the art of Barbara Jensen.
You need a license to use Barbara’s art.
This tube is called Cascade, from her layered pack 39 and
is available from her store.

The kit I used is absolutely gorgeous, its called Daydreaming
and is by CrazyCarita.
The kit is also available at Barbara’s store.

Barbara is currently running a 30% store wide sale and a bonus special.

You will also need a mask, I used Insatiable Dreams mask 565.

Font is 1 Snappy DNA

Please be sure to read my “About my tutorials” page before starting the tutorial, thank you.

I used a drop shadow of vertical and horizontal 5, opacity 75, blur 10.

Open a new transparent canvas 650 by 600 pixels and flood fill with white.

Open pp4 and copy, make a new layer on your canvas, select all, paste the paper into the selection, deselect and apply the mask.  Resize 80%.

Open el1 and paste as a new layer, resize 55% and move over to the left a little, we will come back to it later.

Open el14 and paste as a new layer.  Mirror, resize 70% and rotate 10 degrees to the right, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el19 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 70%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open your main tube and paste as a new layer, resize as needed, place in position and apply the drop shadow.  If you are using one of Barbara’s layered tubes, duplicate it and close the original, make your layer options and copy merged.  I resized my tube 75%.

Open pp2 and copy. Go back to el1, that’s the frame and activate it.  Click anywhere on your canvas outside of the element to make a selection, invert the selection and contract it by 20, make a new layer below the frame and paste the paper into the selection.  Do not deselect.

Open your tube again and paste it as a new layer, resize if needed and position nicely in the frame, invert the selection and hit delete to remove the excess.  Set the blend mode on the tube to “Overlay” and apply the drop shadow to the frame.   I used the main tube without resizing.

Open el18 and paste as a new layer making sure its just above the frame.  Resize 30%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el15 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 50%, place in position, erase the top part of the chain and apply the drop shadow.

Open el11 and paste as a new layer.  Mirror, resize 50%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el5 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 65%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el20 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 60%, place in position on the right of the tube and apply the drop shadow.

Open el2, paste as a new layer and bring to the top.  Resize 60%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el4 and paste as a new layer.  Rotate 80 degrees to the left and resize 80%, drag down below el2 and position on the left.  Duplicate, mirror and flip the duplicate and position on the right.  Apply the drop shadow to both layers.

Open el3 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 50% and position so just a little of it shows below el2.  Duplicate, mirror and flip the duplicate and position so it shows above el2 on the left.  Duplicate again, mirror the duplicate and move over to the right.  Apply the drop shadow to each layer.

Open el12 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 70%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el9 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 70%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el16 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 45%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el11 again, paste as a new layer and bring to the top.   Resize 60%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Check the positions of your layers and make any necessary adjustments, when you are done, crop your tag, add your copyright information and text and export as a jpeg with compression set to 5 or on a transparent background as a png.

Unless otherwise stated, I used a drop shadow of vertical and horizontal 5, opacity 85, blur 10.

Open a new transparent canvas 650 by 600 and flood fill with white.

Open pp1 and copy, make a new layer on your canvas, select all, paste the paper into the selection, deselect and apply the mask.  Resize 85%.

Open el13 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 65% and duplicate 3 times.  Mirror and flip the duplicates and arrange on your canvas like my screenshot below.  When you have them in position, close off the white background and mask layers and merge visible, re-open the closed layers and apply the drop shadow to the merged layer.

Open el14 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 70% and rotate 10 degrees to the right, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el15 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 50% and rotate 10 degrees to the left, place in position but don’t apply the shadow yet.

Open el24 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 55%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el8 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 65% and rotate 90 degrees to the right, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open your main tube and paste as a new layer, resize as needed, place in position and apply the drop shadow.   I resized my tube 50% and mirrored it.

Check the positions of your layers so far and make any necessary adjustments.

Go back to el15 and select the interior of it with your magic wand, expand the selection by 20, make a new layer below it and fill it with black.   Open your tube again and paste it as a new layer, resize as needed, position inside the element, invert the selection and hit delete to remove the excess, deselect and apply the drop shadow to the frame.  This time I resized the tube 40%.

Open el18, paste as a new layer and bring to the top.   Resize 35%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el23 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 70%, place in position and apply the drop shadow changing the vertical and horizontal to 2 and opacity to 50.

Open el28 and paste as a new layer.   Mirror, resize 40%, rotate 30 degrees to the right, place in position and apply the drop shadow (remember to change the settings back).

Open el16 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 35%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el29 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 35% and rotate 90 degrees to the right, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el22 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 40%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el12 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 20%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.
Open el26 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 35%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el1 and paste as a new layer.   Mirror, resize 45%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el27 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 55%, drag down below the cat, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el11 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 35%, duplicate, mirror the duplicate, place both roses into position and apply the drop shadow to each.

Open el20, paste as a new layer and bring to the top.   Resize 27% and rotate 30 degrees in either direction, duplicate, mirror the duplicate, place both butterflies into position and apply the drop shadow to each.

Again, check the positions of your layers and make any necessary adjustments.  When you are done, crop your tag, add your copyright information and text and export as a jpeg with compression set to 5 or on a transparent background as a png.

Open el6 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 75%.

Open your main tube and paste as a new layer, resize as needed, place in position and apply the drop shadow.  I resized my tube 90%.

Open pp4 and copy.  Go back to el6 and select the interior with your magic wand, expand the selection by 20, make a new layer below it and paste the paper into the selection.

Open your tube again or the close up if you have one and paste as a new layer, resize as needed, position inside the element, invert the selection and hit delete to remove the excess, deselect.  I used layer 3 of the tube resized 90%.  Apply the drop shadow to the frame and the tube, merge the tube down onto the paper layer and apply the blinds effect with the settings in my screenshot below (Effects – Texture Effects – Blinds).

Set your foreground/stroke colour to #f1d3e3 and your background/fill colour to #97b6c4, open your font, set your stroke width to 3 and type your name (sizing up to you because font sizes are not the same in different versions of Paint Shop).  Apply a inner bevel using the settings on my screenshot below and then apply the drop shadow.

Open el9 and paste as a new layer.  Mirror, resize 30%, position on your name and apply the drop shadow.

Crop your tag and add your copyright information, then export as a jpeg with compression set to 5 or on a transparent background as a png.
