Spooky Night

In this tutorial I used a gorgeous tube called
“Getting ready for the show”  by
Enys Guerrero.
You can purchase the tube at

I used a kit that was inspired by the Anna Marine tube 48-3 by
The kit can also be purchased at

You will also need a mask, I used mask 141 by

I used the alpha which is supplied with the kit for my text.

If this is the first tutorial of mine that you have followed, please check out my “About my tutorials” page before starting, thank you.

I used a drop shadow of vertical and horizontal 5, opacity 85, blur 10.

Open a new transparent canvas 650 by 600 pixels and fill with white.

Open and copy pp3, make a new layer on your canvas, select all, paste the paper into the selection, deselect and apply the mask.  Resize 105%.

Open el2 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 70% and move up and to the right a little.   Select the interior with your magic wand, expand the selection by 10 and make a new layer below it.  Open and copy pp2 and paste into the selection, deselect.  Apply the drop shadow to the element and merge it down onto the paper.

Open your tube and paste as a new layer, resize as needed, place roughly in position and apply the drop shadow.  I resized my tube 75%.

Open el10 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 45%, rotate 15 degrees to the left, drag below the tube and place in position.  Select the interior with your magic wand, expand the selection as before and make a new layer below it.   Open and copy pp1 and paste into the selection.  Open your tube again or use the close up if you have one, mirror it and paste as a new layer, position in the element resizing as needed, invert the selection and hit delete to remove the excess, deselect.  Apply the drop shadow to the frame and the tube and lower the opacity on the tube to around 50.  I used the close up tube its original size.

Open el4 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 80%, drag down to just above the merged layer and position on the left.  Duplicate, mirror and flip the duplicate and position on the right.  Apply the drop shadow to both layers.

Open el19 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 35% and rotate 10 degrees to the left, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el20 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 40% and rotate 15 degrees to the right, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el14, paste as a new layer and drag up to below the main tube.   Resize 40%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el8 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 70% and position on the left.  Duplicate, mirror the duplicate, drag it down below el4 and position on the right.  Apply the drop shadow to both layers.

Open el6, paste as a new layer and drag up so it’s just below the main tube.   Resize 45%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el13 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 60% and position on the left, duplicate, move the duplicate over to the right and erase the parts that overlap hiding the join behind the tube.  Apply the drop shadow to both parts.

Open el9 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 55%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el3, paste as a new layer and bring to the top.   Resize 60%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Check the positions of your layers and make any necessary adjustments.

Go back to the copy of el4 on the right, draw an oblong selection around the top loop and hit delete, right click on your canvas and “Paste as a new layer”, drag up above the Trick or Treat element and join the two parts back up.

Open the alpha, draw an oblong selection around each letter in your name and copy and paste them on your tag.   Resize each letter 50%, place in position and apply the drop shadow to each.

Open el7 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 40%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

When you are done, crop your tag, add your copyright information and text and export your tag as a png on a transparent background.

Please check out my “About my tutorials” page before starting if this is the first tutorial of mine that you have followed.

Open and copy pp7, make a new layer on your canvas, select all, paste the paper into the selection, deselect and apply the mask. Resize 95%.

Open el5 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 45%,  rotate 20 degrees to the right  and move over to the right a little.   Select the interior with your magic wand and expand the selection by 10.  Open and copy pp5, make a new layer below the frame and paste the paper into the selection, deselect.  Duplicate the frame and the paper, mirror them and move up and over to the left.   We will come back to these.

Open your tube and paste as a new layer, resize as needed, place in position and apply the drop shadow.  If you are using one of Barbara’s layered tubes, duplicate it and close the original, pick your layers and merge visible.  I resized my tube 70%.

Open el22 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 65%, drag down to just above the mask and position on the left.  Duplicate and position the duplicate on the right.  Apply the drop shadow to both layers.

Open el20 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 65% and rotate 20 degrees to the right, place in position and apply the drop shadow.
