About Me
- Vivienne
- Hello and welcome to my blog! I am Vivienne, living in the UK and married with a son who now lives in Perth, Australia and a daughter who has given me two gorgeous grandsons! Paint Shop has been my hobby for more years than I can remember and I love making tags. I have always loved doing tutorials written by others and a couple of years ago started writing them myself. As well as tag tutorials, I also have a Tips and Tricks page where you will find tutorials on basic Paint Shop techniques. I hope you enjoy my blog and have fun with my tutorials. Please be sure also to check out the Tag Gallery and see some of the awesome results to the tutorials!

In this tutorial I
used the art of Pinup Toons.
You need a license to use Pinup Toons' art,
available here.
The kit I used is
called "Festival of Trees" and is by
Gemini Creationz.
This is a cute kit
with some nice elements.
Check out Gemini's site here for where to find her kits.
At the time of writing this tutorial, all Gemini's kits are discounted 40%.
You will also need a
mask, I used Weescotslass' mask 133, here.
I used the font Ammonite, here.
Remember to sharpen up your elements after resizing/rotating
as it makes them a little blurry; check out my Tips and Tricks page for more
info.
I used a drop shadow unless otherwise stated of vertical and
horizontal 2, opacity 80, blur 5.
Open a new transparent canvas 650 by 600 pixels and flood
fill with white.
Open one of the papers and copy, I used
gemini_festivaloftrees_pp5. Make a new
layer on your canvas, select all, paste the paper into the selection, deselect
and apply the mask. Resize 90%.
Open Gemini_festivaloftrees_confetti and paste as a new
layer. Resize 60%, move to the left a
little and apply the drop shadow.
Open gemini_festivaloftrees_tree1 and paste as a new layer.
Resize 65%, move over to the left and apply the drop shadow.
Open gemini_festivaloftrees_frame5 and paste as a new
layer. Resize 40%, rotate 10 degrees to
the right and move over to the right.
Open gemini_festivaloftrees_pp6 and copy. Select the interior of the frame with your
magic wand and expand the selection by 10, make a new layer below it and paste
the paper into the selection. Do not
deselect.
Open your tube, mirror and paste as a new layer, resize as
needed, position inside the frame, invert the selection and hit delete to
remove the excess tube. Apply the drop
shadow to the frame and change the blend mode on the tube to
"Overlay".
Open gemini_festivaloftrees_holly and paste as a new
layer. Make sure its above the
frame. Resize 25%, place in position
and apply the drop shadow.
Open gemini_festivaloftrees_doodleswirl and paste as a new
layer. Resize 65% and place in
position, apply an inner bevel with the settings as my screenshot below and
then apply the drop shadow.
Open gemini_festivaloftrees_reindeer and paste as a new
layer. Resize 45%, place in position
and apply the drop shadow.
Open your tube and paste as a new layer, resize as needed,
place in position and apply the drop shadow.
Open gemini_festivaloftrees_paperflower1 and paste as a new
layer. Resize 60%, drag down below the
tube, place in position and apply the drop shadow.
Open gemini_festivaloftrees_bowribbon2 and paste as a new
layer. Resize 50%, place in position
and apply the drop shadow.
Open gemini_festivaloftrees_paperflower2 and paste as a new
layer. Resize 80%, place in position
and apply the drop shadow.
Open gemini_festivaloftrees_peppermintcandy and paste as a
new layer. Resize 30%, place in
position and apply the drop shadow.
Open gemini_festivaloftrees_gift, paste as a new layer and
bring to the top. Resize 20%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.
Check the positions of your layers and make any necessary
adjustments.
Open gemini_festivaloftrees_lights and paste as a new layer.
Flip, resize 50%, place in position and apply the drop shadow. Erase some of the lights so they are wrapped
around the tube.
Open gemini_festivaloftrees_snowflakes and paste as a new
layer. Resize 50%, place in position
and apply a drop shadow of vertical and horizontal 1, opacity 50, blur 3.
When you are done, crop your tag, add your copyright information and text then export as a jpeg with compression set to 5 or on a transparent background as a png.
I hope you enjoyed this tutorial, if you have any questions, you can email me here. As always, I would love to see your result and include it in the gallery!
