- Hello and welcome to my blog! I am Vivienne, living in the UK and married with a son who now lives in Perth, Australia and a daughter who has given me two gorgeous grandsons! Paint Shop has been my hobby for more years than I can remember and I love making tags. I have always loved doing tutorials written by others and a couple of years ago started writing them myself. As well as tag tutorials, I also have a Tips and Tricks page where you will find tutorials on basic Paint Shop techniques. I hope you enjoy my blog and have fun with my tutorials. Please be sure also to check out the Tag Gallery and see some of the awesome results to the tutorials!

In this tutorial I
used the layered tube “Crouching Tiger”
from the latest
pack 60 by
Barbara Jensen.
You can purchase this
gorgeous tube from
The kit is “Hidden
Garden” by
This is a
beautiful kit and is also available at
You will also need
a mask, I used mask 141 by
I used the “Jeans”
plugin by
Font of choice.
I used a drop shadow of vertical 0, opacity 5, opacity
85, blur 10.
Open a new transparent canvas 650 by 600 pixels and fill
with white.
Make a new layer on your canvas, select all, paper paper
3 and paste it into the selection, deselect and apply the mask.
Paste element 15 as a new layer, resize 45% and rotate 10
degrees to the right, duplicate and close off the duplicate for now. Select the interior of the original copy with
your magic wand, expand the selection by 20 and make a new layer below it, copy
paper 1 and paste it into the selection, deselect. Apply the drop shadow to the frame and merge
it down onto the paper.
Open the copy of element 15 and mirror it, again select
the interior, expand the selection as before, make a new layer below it and
this time paste paper 4 into the selection.
Paste your tube, or close up if you have one, position in the frame
resizing as needed, invert the selection and hit delete to remove the excess,
deselect and set the blend mode to “Soft Light”. I used the close up resized 60%. Go back to the paper below the tube,
duplicate it and bring the copy above the tube.
Apply the Jeans plugin to the tube with the amount set to 62 and border
width set to 10. Mirror the paper and
apply the Jeans texture again with the same settings then mirror it back and
set the blend mode to “Soft Light”.
Apply the drop shadow to the frame, close off all your layers apart from
this copy frame, the tube and the two paper layers above and below the tube, merge
visible. Open your closed layers and put
your frames into position.
Paste element 9 as a new layer, resize 70% and rotate 10
degrees to the right, drag below the merged layer and place in position, erase
any of the stalk and leaf that show and apply the drop shadow.
Paste element 18 as a new layer and bring to the top,
resize 40%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.
Paste element 26 as a new layer, resize 35%, place in
position and apply the drop shadow.
Paste element 33 as a new layer, resize it 90%, draw an
oblong selection around the word mystique, promote it to a layer and then
delete it from the original, deselect.
Close of mystique for now, place midnight in position and apply the drop
shadow to it.
Paste element 10 as a new layer, resize 50% and rotate 10
degrees to the left, duplicate, drag the
original down below the merged layer and place in position, mirror the copy and
position on the right, apply the drop shadow to each.
Paste your tube as a new layer, resize as needed, place
in position and apply the drop shadow. I
resized my tube 60%.
Paste element 28 as a new layer, resize 25% and rotate 20
degrees to the left, drag below the tube, place in position and apply the drop
shadow.
Paste element 1a as a new layer, resize 25% and duplicate,
position the original on the left and drag the copy above the tube, mirror it
and position on the right, apply the drop shadow to each.
Paste element 23 as a new layer, resize 35% and position
behind the tube on the right, duplicate, bring the duplicate above the tube and
resize it another 90%, duplicate the copy, mirror it,resize it another 80% and
rotate it 10 degrees to the left, place these two flowers in position and apply
the drop shadow to all copies.
Paste element 1 as a new layer, resize 25%, drag below
the tube, place in position and apply the drop shadow.
Paste element 31 as a new layer, resize 30%, place in
position and apply the drop shadow.
Open your word mystique word, drag it up to between the two
top copies of element 23, resize it another 90%, place in position and apply
the drop shadow.
Paste element 21 as a new layer, resize 35%, drag below mystique, duplicate,
mirror the duplicate, place both copies in position and apply the drop shadow
to each.
Paste element 24 as a new layer, resize 50% and mirror, drag between the
copies of element 21 and position on the right, duplicate, mirror and flip the
duplicate and position on the left, erase the parts that overlap hiding the
join behind the elements above it and apply the drop shadow to each.
Paste element 17 as a new layer and repeat all the steps
you did for element 24.
Go back to element 31 and duplicate it, drag it up to
just below the mystique word, mirror, place in position and apply the drop shadow.
Paste element 22 as a new layer, resize 35%, place in
position and apply the drop shadow.
Check the positions of your layers and make any necessary
adjustments, I stretched my mask out a little larger, then when you are done,
crop your tag, add your copyright information and text and export on a
transparent background as a png.

In this tutorial I
used the amazing art of
You need a license to use Enys' art,
available at Creative Design Outlet.
I used the tube
and the graphic but the tutorial can
be done with just
a tube.
I used a fabulous
kit inspired by Amy Brown’s 93-1 from
The kit can also be purchased at
I used three
masks, mask 84 from
mask 18 from
and mask 151 by
I used the font
I used a drop shadow of vertical 0, horizontal 5, opacity
85, blur 10.
Open a new transparent canvas 700 by 600 pixels and fill with
white.
Copy paper 01, make a new layer on your canvas select
all, paste the paper into the selection and apply Weescotslass’ mask, resize 95%.
Make another layer, the paper should still be in the
memory, paste it again into the selection and apply Millie’s mask, deselect and
put this canvas to one side.
Open a new transparent canvas 600 by 600 pixels, select
all, paste the paper into the selection and apply Vaybs' mask, copy the mask
and paste it onto your original canvas,
resize it 80% and position on the left.
You can now delete the second canvas.
You should have something like this.
Paste element 14 as a new layer, resize 70%, place in
position and apply the drop shadow.
Paste frame 2 as a new layer, resize 55%, rotate 10
degrees to the right and place in position.
Select the interior of the frame with your magic wand, expand the
selection by 5 and make a new layer below it, copy paper 04 and paste it into
the selection, deselect. We will come
back to this.
Paste your tube as a new layer, resize as needed, place
in position and apply the drop shadow. I
resized my tube 80% and mirrored it.
Paste element 13 as a new layer, resize 65% and rotate 10
degrees to the left, drag below the tube, place in position and apply the drop
shadow.
Paste element 04 as a new layer, resize 70%, place in
position and apply the drop shadow.
Paste element 10 as a new layer, resize 35% and rotate 20
degrees to the right, position on the right, duplicate, mirror the duplicate
and rotate it 10 degees to the left, place in position on the left and apply
the drop shadow to each,
Paste element 09 as a new layer, resize 45%, place in
position and apply the drop shadow.
Paste element 01 as a new layer, resize 50% and rotate 20
degrees to the right, place in position and apply the drop shadow.
Paste element 06 as a new layer, resize 30% and rotate 20
degrees to the left, place in position and apply the drop shadow.
Paste element 15 as a new layer, resize 35%, place in
position and apply the drop shadow.
Paste element 05 as a new layer and bring to the top,
resize 30%, place in position and apply the drop shadow. I recoloured this element to better match
the tube.
Check the positions of your layers and make any necessary
adjustments.
Paste element 12 as a new layer on the top, resize 65%
and place in position. Duplicate, erase
the group of leaves on the right hand side on the duplicate, drag it below the
tube and position to the right of her. Apply
the drop shadow to both copies.
Paste element 16 as a new layer, resize 25%, position behind the top leaf layer and apply
the drop shadow.
Go back to the frame and paste your tube or close up as a
new layer behind it. This copy needs to be the mirror image of the original
copy. Position the tube in the frame
resizing as needed, again select the interior of the frame, expand the
selection as before, invert it and hit delete on the tube to remove the excess,
deselect. I used the close up full
sized. Change the blend mode on the
tube to “Overlay” and merge it down onto the paper. Go to Effects – Distortion Effects – Ripple and
apply with the settings in my screenshot below.
Apply the drop shadow to the frame.
Double check your mask layers and make sure you are happy
with their positioning. If you have a graphic, past it as a new layer above the
mask layers and resize it 110%, change the blend mode to “Soft Light” and
position it on the right so the tube is hidden but you can see the curtains in
the top, right hand corner. Select
Weescotslass mask, float and defloat it, invert the selection and hit delete on
the graphic, deselect. Erase any that
shows to the left of the clock and below the main tube. Paste the graphic again, position it on the
left, then repeat the above. Erase any
of this copy that shows on the right and below the main tube. Lower the opacity on the main Weescotslass
mask layer to around 70%.
When you are all done, crop your tag, add your copyright information
and text, then export on a transparent background as a png.
